W
e have air! After many years of donations
from our fabulous Cal Gamma alumnae,
we took the big leap and upgraded the second and
third floors to the 21st century with individual
thermostats in each room this summer. e
collegians moved out of the chapter house the
second weekend in May, and by the following
Monday the A/C crew was at 667 W. 28th Street
ready to start the enormous task of prepping,
removing existing units, and opening walls and
ceilings for the new systems.
State-of-the-Art A/C Upgrade
Our new air-conditioning units are energy efficient
and can be controlled by each bedroom. is
means that in the back of the house, sisters will not
need their winter coats year around, and Pineapple
Palace will not feel like an Arizona summer either.
e chapter live-ins are thrilled and so grateful to
our generous alumnae for making this all possible.
Our high-tech, clean air is energy efficient and will
drastically reduce our monthly electric bills.
Recruitment Changes at USC
is year is the first year ever that USC has not had
a fall recruitment. e collegians are busy getting
ready for spring recruitment in early January. is
means that the Pi Phis come back a week earlier
from winter break. Our amazing staff and House
Director Ann have been great at adapting to our
new schedule of events coming up, and the women
of Pi Phi just adore them and so appreciate their
commitment to our Cal Gamma family!
Chapter House Updates
Each summer is the busiest time for Chapter
House Corporation (CHC). Repairs, power
washing, painting, and reupholstering are always
on our list. Besides our new air conditioning
this year, we also spruced up our first-floor guest
bedroom with new bedding, headboard, dresser,
side table, and lamps. Area rugs were replaced,
Music Room sofas were reupholstered and raised,
too. With all the large old air-conditioning units
removed from the house, we have created many
closets throughout the house for storage. is was a
much needed find that none of us expected.
Giving Back to Cal Gamma
If you are inspired to pay it forward, you can
support ongoing house maintenance by donating
online at https://contributions.omegafi.com/
contributions/product/1479-piphi-ca-gamma or fill
out the enclosed pledge card. Cal Gamma would
not be where it is today without your support!
Wishing you a happy fall and, as we get into the
holiday season, a healthy time with friends and family.
Pi Phi Love,
