C O M Fall 2019 T he undergraduate brothers have returned to campus to pursue excellence and develop men of principled lives. As we work with their leadership, we see their progress in a positive light and support what they are doing. at being said, we need to focus a majority of our attention on a delicate but important discussion: fundraising. Simply stated, we did not achieve our financial goals in our most recent capital campaign. We have a balloon mortgage that matures in July 2020. Based on our current cash flow, we expect to be short by about $600,000 and will need to refinance if we don't obtain funds to cover that gap. In addition, we have $450,000 in miscellaneous construction costs that need to be repaid. Our Need e bottom line is that we have $1.05 million in debts that need to be addressed. As a house corporation, we can cover $350,000 in long-term debt. erefore, we are looking for the additional $700,000 to be raised by alumni donations. For those of you who have participated previously, we are extremely grateful and look forward to your continued support. For those who haven't, I am appealing to your sense of brotherhood. I believe we all have a shared responsibility to help maintain the Chapter House, support the needs of the house corporation, and provide opportunities for the active Chapter, just like those who came before us did. It's our house, so please think of it that way and support it accordingly. What You Can Do e donation process is easy. You can go to www.purduebeta.com and donate online, either as a one-time donation or a multiyear pledge. If you would prefer a written form to mail in, please contact me and one will be sent to you. We also have a team (primarily of board members) available to speak to if you have additional questions. Homecoming this year was a big success. Turnout was great and the event continues to grow. House tours were held in the morning and for some it was the first time back since the large renovation was completed in 2015. In the aernoon for the second straight year we had a large tailgate just outside the football stadium. Alumni and the undergraduate members enjoyed the camaraderie together, not to mention great food and drinks. anks to John Laurie '86 for his hard work and dedication to these events. As a house corporation, we are extremely grateful for everyone who has volunteered their time in support of the Chapter. I would like to specifically highlight and thank outgoing President Cary Wood '89 and outgoing Treasurer Kevin Comer '71 for their long and distinguished service to Beta Mu. Cary and Kevin have completed their roles as officers, but their legacies will endure forever.
