"Dave" Shryer '47 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on January 26. An only child, Dave remembered fondly his days growing up in Chicago, Ill., and Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He returned as a teenager to Indianapolis where he graduated from Shortridge High School in 1940. Dave attended Purdue University where he served in the ROTC program and was a sports editor for the university's daily newspaper; he graduated aer serving in WWII. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, of 50 years; his daughters, Molly (Tom) Boast, Alice (Greg) Southwick, and Betsy Shryer (Tom) Boyle; his son, Davis Shryer III; his stepdaughters, Phyllis (Chris) Dozier, Jennifer Kramer, and Jean Ellen (Loren) Kramer-Johnson; stepdaughter-in-law Cathy Young; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. His daughter Betsy writes: "Dave Shryer was a gentleman of a bygone era, proud of his efforts and of those around him. He was truly loved by many." Jerry Moss '48 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on October 21, 2018. His stepdaughter, Janis Smith, writes that he was very proud to be a Beta. Charles ompson '49 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on May 26. Aer serving briefly in WWII, Charles received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University followed by an MBA from Indiana University. Charles married his college sweetheart from Purdue University and began a successful career in aerospace engineering that took him from his home state of Indiana to Texas, Alabama, then finally settling in Southern California. He was an avid reader of history, a lover of the arts, and was active in the community. While in California, Charles volunteered as the president of a non-profit corporation assisting at-risk teenagers in West Hollywood, served as president of the Rotary Club in Pacific Palisades, and as an elder at the Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church. Jacob A. Harman '51 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on July 7. In 1945, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Philippines #1542 Engineering Battalion. Jake graduated from Purdue University in 1951 with a bachelor of science civil engineering degree. He was owner and president of Builders Metals Supply and J.A. Harman P.E. He was a member and past deacon at Calvin Presbyterian Church, member of the American Legion, American Society of Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers Association of Kentucky, and Hunting Creek Country Club. Father Malcolm "Blake" Greenlee '56 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on April 7. Blake was born in Mercedes, Texas, on August 20, 1932. He spent his early years in Mercedes and then in LaGrange, Ill., where he met and fell in love with Dorothy. He began studies at Purdue University but le school to join the Marines, in the midst of the Korean War. He and Dorothy were married on December 7, 1952, just before he went to Korea. Following his military service, he returned to Purdue, graduating in 1956 with a B.S. in physics. He later completed divinity studies at the General eological Seminary in New York and was ordained as a minister in the Episcopal Church. Blake led a full life and was a man of many interests. He is survived by his wife, Kaye; they lived in Incline Village, Nev. Joe was an officer of Beta Mu and a star shortstop on Purdue's varsity baseball team. Aer heading up the international large jet engine sales group for GE, Joe and his wife established a successful consulting company providing negotiating strategy services to employees of airplane manufacturers and airline companies. Gary Shearer '57 writes, "Joe was my close friend from grade school on through Purdue days at the Beta house and thereaer. I will miss him." Steven Morehouse '64 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on June 14. Steve was born on October 7, 1941. He was in ROTC at Purdue and served as a lieutenant in the Army at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. He had a successful professional career for 38 years as a salesman, mostly in the packaging industry. He traveled all around the U.S., including Puerto Rico. Jeff omas '04 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on December 14, 2018. Jeff was a tri-athlete and soccer star at Purdue who earned a degree in construction engineering and management. He loved to spend time with his family: his wife, Jess, and children, Jake and Kate; his parents, Barb and Randy; his sister, Trish; brother-in-law, Scott; nephews, Justin and Cameron; niece, Ellie; grandmother, Peggy; and countless other relatives and friends. ey all survive Jeff, and eagerly await when they meet again in heaven, where they will eat Jeff 's famous smoked ribs and drink Bourbon County Stout. Kevin Falsey '10 entered Memory and Our Mystic Shrine on November 16, 2018. Kevin never missed a chance to make others laugh. He was a diehard fan of the Blackhawks and all things Boilermaker. Alumni News Philip E. Nelson '56 lives in Pellston, Mich., and is enjoying retirement as professor emeritus at Purdue. Robert lives in the North Florida Panhandle and enjoys being an amateur radio operator in his spare time. Owen '74 retired from the ice cream industry in March and finds himself as busy as ever with church, committees, food pantry, grandchildren activities, and more. With one daughter married and living in Munich, Germany, Mark and Betsy visit Europe once a year. eir other daughter and two grandchildren live only five minutes away in Columbus, Ohio.
