Page 4 SigEp Gator Heart T he gentlemen of Florida Alpha enjoyed a productive spring semester and summer break. We are immensely excited to be back for a fall semester that is hopefully full of Gator football wins and great times spent in fraternal life. However, it's essential to recognize our major achievements over the last few months. As discussed on page 1, we won a Buchanan Cup at Conclave. When our Chapter recolonized at the University of Florida, our sights were set on earning our charter back. With that massive accomplishment energizing us, we embarked on a journey toward a different goal: The Buchanan Outstanding Chapter Award. However, our Chapter was technically not allowed to apply due to the extremely short time since receiving our charter. Thanks to the diligence of our AVC, we had a successful appeal and were granted the ability to apply. The undergraduate brothers began digging through records to eloquently and thoroughly complete a 52-page application. Luis Fernandez '19 spearheaded the project and submitted a phenomenal application. We anxiously waited until late July, when six of our brothers landed in Houston, Texas, for Conclave. Our dedication to redefining the Fraternity experience was recognized at the highest level when we were awarded our Buchanan Cup. It was an affirmation to continue challenging the status quo and a testament to the hard work of the brothers that came before us. Hard Work Pays Off for Florida Alpha Ray Andresen '23 / Tampa, Fla. Thank you. Looking forward, we have our eyes on another Buc Cup in 2021. We're full steam ahead on this semester following a successful spring that featured six community service events, a new tradition in Alumni Mondays, and an amazing brotherhood retreat in Columbus, Georgia. This semester we had our annual philanthropy event, SigEp Surf Frenzy, Homecoming Week with the ladies of Alpha Chi Omega, and we look forward to our annual Balanced Man Scholarship Banquet. Our Chapter is excited and empowered to be a driving force in the Greek Community.
