Beta Tau Housing Corporation of Sigma Kappa at the University of Florida • Fall 2019 Beta Tau ConnSKtion I t has been a time of transition at Beta Tau, as we added three new faces to our house corporation board in April. However, that time of transition has also been full of laughter, fun, and a deep appreciation we share for our sisterhood. So oftentimes it feels like we never left after graduating. SUMMER 2019 HOUSING CONFERENCE Amanda Banister Rone '02, Susan Rose '86, and Jennifer Taylor '12 traveled to the Sigma Kappa National Housing Conference in June. While in Knoxville, Tennessee, they spent three days of fun, sisterhood, and learning. It was amazing to collaborate with and learn from such amazing women who are doing great things for their chapters across the country. We met Sigma Kappa National President Sara Seely Chacon, Gamma Alpha '00, University of Northern Colorado, and reunited with past board officers, Jennifer Grinnan Lyons '04 and Gabrielle Ferro Miller '04, who both are now working with the National House Corporation. We also reunited with one of our former house directors, Jeannie "Mama J" Bobroff, while touring the Alpha Delta chapter house. ALUMNAE HELP PREPARE FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR On August 11, Beta Tau hosted an alumnae brunch and mock recruitment event in preparation for formal recruitment. Thank you to the alumnae and mothers who were in attendance. You were extremely helpful in preparing the chapter for recruitment. We hope to have an even larger turnout next year. On August 25, our leadership gathered at our beloved chapter house for a meeting of the collegiate executive board, house corporation board, and Advisory Board supervisors. It was powerful to see the different spheres of leadership work together and reconnect at the beginning of this school year. PLAN FOR 2020 Our focus in 2020 will be reconnecting with alumnae. We want to get to know you in this new chapter of your lives! Our sisterhood at Beta Tau Chapter at the University of Florida created amazing memories and connections for thousands of women, across many years. It will be amazing to strengthen our alumnae bond further; we have so much to learn and share with each other. Beta Tau operates in a financially sound manner while still building our reserve savings account. Our revenue covered 101% of what we had budgeted for this past year. In her first year, our treasurer, Janine Sherman Ball '86, has dedicated herself to this role and we are eternally grateful for her expertise. We are so incredibly proud of the young women in our collegiate chapter. In working closely with our executive board, we are reminded every day that Sigma Kappa is providing these young women with such valuable life skills, and as alumnae, we get to learn from them as well.
