KAPPA DELTA NATIONAL AND LOCAL RECOGNITION Alpha Mu Today Building Confidence. Inspiring Action. K appa Delta collegians excel in many areas, but they are especially proud of their leadership on campus, philanthropic endeavors, academic standards, and service to the community. Fraternity and sorority life at Ole Miss is experiencing unprecedented growth, and Alpha Mu's membership continues to grow as well. Today, Alpha Mu has over 430 members, many of whom are active leaders within the chapter, Ole Miss, and sorority community. ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PHILANTHROPY Alpha Mu continues to excel academically and aer fall 2018 the chapter achieved a 3.43 GPA, which is above the all-sorority average of 3.23 and ranks first on campus out of 10 sororities. As part of Kappa Delta's focus on building confidence and inspiring action, the sorority supports preventing child abuse and works hands-on with the Girl Scouts of the USA. e chapter hosts a variety of events to raise funds and awareness for these important causes. • Alpha Mu hosts two Girl Scout events each semester. In the fall, they host Cardio and Confidence and Trick or Treat Prep Party and in the spring they host Cookies and Confidence and STEMinists - Girls in STEM. • Alpha Mu hosts two Shamrock events each year to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America. e fall event, KD Quesadillas, raised over $29,000 and the spring event, Shamrock & Roll, raised over $27,000. Alpha Mu has been continually recognized by Kappa Delta and Ole Miss for achievements in many different categories. Recent awards include: • Merit Chapter at Kappa Delta's biennial Convention each year since 2013. • Christina Lawler, 2018 graduate, served as a Leadership Development Consultant for Kappa Delta from 2018-19 and is currently serving as a Senior Leadership Development Consultant for the 2019-20 academic year. • Seven active members of Alpha Mu were Taylor Medal recipients at Ole Miss for the 2018-19 academic school year. is award, established in 1904, is the university's highest academic award and recognizes no more than one percent of the student body each year. Recipients are nominated by faculty, chosen by a selection committee, and must have a GPA of at least a 3.90! • 2017 and 2018 Ole Miss Homecoming Queens were members of Kappa Delta. • A Kappa Delta was crowned Miss Mississippi USA 2018. "My favorite memories of Kappa Delta were the awesome made-to-order breakfasts while in your PJs, hiding the bust of 'Eugena' in a girl's bed or closet, rocking on the front porch, watching dates get picked up, or late- night peanut butter and crackers in the laundry room." – Melinda Sumners Ray '78 women were on the President's List (4.0 GPA) 3.0 GPA or higher 374 women (79% of the chapter) 191 (3.5-3.99 GPA) women were on the Dean's List 44
