Our Challenges Remaining Competitive and Relevant W hile the Alpha Mu experience is certainly more than the physical structure of the chapter house, our home undoubtedly plays a significant role in the development of our sisters and is a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. College campus living has changed significantly over the past 10 to 15 years. e experience is different than what most of our alumnae will remember, as students today spend 70% of their time within their living environment. It has become clear we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive through providing a quality living environment. SPACE Chapter sizes at Ole Miss have grown considerably, and we no longer have enough space for all members to meet together. To ensure our sisterhood remains strong, we must accommodate the growing membership numbers. Although the young women have found creative ways to spend time together in the house, we know that this is not viable for the future. LEADING THE COMPETITION While Kappa Delta is attracting some of the most outstanding women at Ole Miss, we know that we are losing quality potential members to other sororities that have made major investments in their chapter houses. Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Phi, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, and Kappa Kappa Gamma are a few of the sororities making major investments in their housing. We cannot allow Kappa Delta to be le behind. THE DEMAND FOR FRATERNITY AND SORORITY LIFE 2018 Ole Miss Statistics (according to the Fall 2018 Fraternity & Sorority Community Academic Report) "I give my time to Alpha Mu as a campaign board member as well as a chapter advisory board member because I feel this chapter has contributed to the woman I am today. I'm honored to still be involved with Alpha Mu and will continue to guide these women to be the best in the country." – Lauren Newton Roady '97 e demand to be in a sorority can in part be attributed to their academic success. 17,000 undergraduate students undergraduate women are in sororities 7,000 students are in fraternities and sororities at Ole Miss 40% of the undergraduate student body All-sorority GPA: 3.23 All-female GPA: 3.04
