Flying Saucer Pizza You will need to ask your adult for help. •Olive Oil •Patty Pan Squash •Pizza sauce •Pepperoni •Mozzarella Cheese Ask your adult to light the grill. Have your adult slice the Patty Pan squash into ¼ to ½ inch slices Brush olive oil on both sides of all your slices Help cook the Patty Pan slices on the grill for 4-5 minutes with the lid closed Flip them over, and add your pizza sauce, toppings and cheese Close the grill for a minute or two until the cheese melts Galaxy Candy Sticks Rock candy is easy to make and fun to watch the crystals form. Your adult should be in charge of getting the water and sugar mixture to boil, so you can get the skewers and the jars ready. Ingredients •1 cup Water •3 cups White Sugar •Flavoring and Coloring as desired •2 Pint Jars •2 Clothespins •2 5-inch Skewers •Plain White Sugar Prepare your candy growing area (your jar) by washing it in hot soapy water and rinse it well. You will need a place for it to sit undisturbed for about 2 weeks. In a small saucepan bring the water to a boil. When it is bubbling, lower the heat and begin to stir in the sugar (1/2 cup at a time). When all the sugar is dissolved turn off the heat and allow it to cool for 15 minutes while you prepare the jars and skewers. Wet the skewers with water and then sprinkle plain sugar on them. Let this sugar dry and set while the solution cools. When the solution is ready, pour it into the empty jars. Add the food coloring and flavoring to each jar. Pinch the skewers with clothespins and lower them into the jars, using the clothespins to keep them from touching the bottom. The crystals will begin growing in one to three days. When ready, remove the crystal from solution and hang it to dry in an empty jar, and then eat when ready! Be sure not to disturb the crystals as they are growing. 8 • Off icialKidsMag.com JULY 2019 OfficialKidsMag.cOM Kids in the Kitchen
