We were able to use these funds for repairs to the chapter house, and without this continued support from our alumnae, these renovations would not be possible. Donors are listed by initiation year with their cumulative giving category (tracked since 2007). Please report any errors or omissions to Vicki Osmolski-Lindamood '92 at vickimood@yahoo.com. G rowing up surrounded by only brothers, Christine Stoecker Watson '83 was looking for a home with a diverse group of women and strong sisterhood bond. The first time she walked into the Beta Sigma house, Christine felt at home. She recalls, "They were warm and friendly when I went through recruitment. It was like being at home and I still get that feeling walking into the chapter house today." Since finding her home within Sigma Kappa, it has been the center of many of Christine's fondest memories. But more than creating wonderful moments with her sisters, Beta Sigma taught her some invaluable lessons that have continued to help her throughout her life. She remembers Sunday formal dinners where she learned social etiquette, the importance of being studious, and time management. However, the most important lesson she learned from her Beta Sigma sisters was how to be confident in herself. She explains, "Being in the sorority taught me to stand up and speak my mind." Learning how to stand up for herself has been a very important tool for Christine throughout her career. For the past 24 years, Christine has worked in the high corrosion resistant alloy industry. In this male-dominated industry, she's had to prove herself time and time again. But through her Sigma Kappa experience, learning to speak up for herself, she has gained respect from her coworkers. She has held leadership roles within the local union as treasurer and as a member of the safety committee in her company for numerous years. "When I was involved with the safety committee, we worked with CEO Francis Petro and the union to make Haynes [International] one of the safest companies in the U.S." In 2003, the company received the One of America's Safest Companies award and in 2007 they received the National Safety Award. "After working on the safety committee for 17 years, the highlight for me was being invited to the banquet for the award presentation in Chicago," Christine shared. Along with helping Christine throughout her career, Sigma Kappa continues to play a major role in her life. Christine serves on the House Corporation Board and is passionate about Sigma Kappa's philanthropy. "I believe in being involved and giving back," she explained; something she learned as an undergraduate. While Christine has been able to stay involved with Beta Sigma, she understands that some of her sisters may have lost touch over the years. To those sisters she says, "Come back to the house. You don't realize how many people come back for events and Homecoming to reconnect. When you come back, it'll feel like you never left." When Christine is not working with Beta Sigma's House Corporation Board, she is busy at Haynes International working on the Emergency Response Team. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and spending time at the lake with her friends. She also enjoys spending time with her three adult children and her two grandsons.
