3 DTD THE CORDELT T he Beta Omicron Chapter started the year on a high note, initiating 19 men this se- mester. Every one of these new members is excited to be a part of such a cohesive organi- zation. They are all eager to lend their talents to the fraternity and grow it as a leader of creative excellence on Cornell's campus. We have every intention to continue this trend of strong recruit- ment to further build upon the solid foundations laid before us by previous generations of Delts. These new members have indeed gone above and beyond in making the Beta Omicron Chap- ter a more welcoming and spirited place. For example, Alberto Morales-Nunez '21 has sin- glehandedly planned and executed a variety of brotherhood and ROAD events after stepping into the role this semester. Alberto just joined the chapter a few short months ago in the fall. Additionally, Jake Polacek '21 and Benjamin Posnick '21 have secured seats on Cornell's IFC executive board, demonstrating to the campus that Delts are indeed the leaders of tomorrow. We hope that this energy and enthusiasm is in- fectious and that we can capitalize on this mo- mentum to not only grow the chapter, but also expand our philanthropic, social, and brother- hood events. On a similar positive note, our philanthropy and community service chairmen, Ethan Lanphere '20 and Matthew Frucht '21, have been tire- lessly working to put together as many philan- thropy opportunities for the chapter as possible. In addition to our monthly visits to Enfield Ele- mentary and biweekly visits to the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen, we have also been taking an active role in attending IFC-sponsored ser- vice events to benefit the greater Ithaca com- munity. With regard to our own events, we are in the process of planning a sports tournament with Kappa Delta and our annual Backyard BBQ event, both with the support of and to benefit the Syracuse JDRF Chapter. Our academics and campus involvement efforts are flourishing. We stand at a 3.382 GPA, pre- cisely matching the campus average. That mark demonstrates a strong upward trend from semes- ters past. The National Fraternity has taken note of our rapid improvement and focus on studies, granting us the Academic Excellence award at the 2019 Northeastern Division Conference in February. We would like to thank you all for your nev- er-ending support and your everlasting dedica- tion and commitment to the values of Delta Tau Delta. A special thanks to Chapter Advisor Jack Thompson '73 and the House Corporation for their unwavering support. It is only with the gra- cious and continued spirit and guidance of the alumni network that we can succeed to the de- gree to which we have. If you find yourself in the Ithaca area, we en- courage you to stop by for a visit. We would love the opportunity to connect with you, share sto- ries of our time in the Shelter, receive guidance, and share our vision for the future with you.
