There would be no repeat heroics for the Lady Spartans on Thursday as the fifthseeded and visiting Shasta Wolves downed No. 4 Red Bluff 46-37 to advance to the Northern Section Division III semifinals. After four lead changes in the first half, the Spartans went cold in the third period, scoring just two points as the Lady Wolves (1212) grabbed a 26-24 lead and never looked back. Red Bluff downed Shasta on Feb. 14 after Spartans guard Maggie Hansen hit a late-game 3-pointer that ultimate- ly sealed a 44-43 win and the No. 4 seed for Red Bluff (16-9). The teams were tied at 24 going to the half, but an 8-0 run from the Wolves to start the third period wouldn't be snapped until Red Bluff's freshman center Payten McKerras converted on a couple of free throws with about two minutes left in the quarter. McKerras, who was active on the boards and altered a few shots in the paint, finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds. NBA TRADES ATHLETICS Warriors get under tax; Kings deal Robinson RHP Ynoa reports after chicken pox (AP) — The Golden State Warriors have completed trades sending forward Jeremy Tyler to Atlanta and guard Charles Jenkins to Philadelphia. The moves made just before Thursday's trade deadline allow the Warriors to shed salary and get under the league's luxury tax. Golden State received cash and a protected second-round pick from Philadelphia and cash and future draft considerations from Atlanta. By shedding the second-year players, Golden State sliced more than $1.5 million off its salary cap without losing key contributors. The Warriors began the day about $1.2 million over the league's $70,307,000 luxury tax. The Warriors drafted Tyler and Jenkins in the second round in 2011. Both have played sparingly this season. Aldrich and backup point guard Toney Douglas to Sacramento for Robinson, the No. 5 pick in last year's draft, and forwards Francisco Garcia and Tyler Honeycutt. The 6-foot-10 Robinson is the big prize, the No. 5 pick in last year's draft and last season's Big 12 player of the year at Kansas. With the Kings, though, he's averaged only 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 16 minutes per game. His most notable NBA moment might have come when he elbowed Detroit's Jonas Jerebko in the neck during a game in November and served a twogame suspension. See TRADES, page 2B PHOENIX (AP) — Four years after he joined the Oakland Athletics, Michael Ynoa still has never pitched above Class A. Signed by Oakland for $4.25 million when he was 16, Ynoa has been limited to 17 professional games because of elbow problems. Now on the 40-man roster of the A's, the 21-year-old right-hander reported to spring training Thursday after missing the opening week because of chicken pox. ''For one week it was bad,'' Ynoa said. Given his 6-foot-7 height, Ynoa caught the attention of A's manager Bob Melvin. ''I didn't realize he was that size,'' Melvin said. ''He could probably reach out and drop the ball in the catcher's mitt. I'm looking forward to watching him pitch. Everybody says he's pretty special when he's healthy.'' Ynoa has yet to go through a full season. He started his career on the disabled list with the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League due to a strained right elbow and he missed the entire season. He made three starts in 2010 before more elbow problem and had surgery that August to reconstruct his ulnar collateral ligament. Ynoa returned to the mound last June and made a combined 12 starts and two relief appearances for the Arizona League A's and Vermont of the Class-A New York-Penn League, going 1-4 with a 6.45 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 30 2-3 innings. He is working on is a cutter, a pitch that intrigued him when he saw it during televised games while he was sidelined. ''I feel great mentally and now I am ready to do my See YNOA, page 2B
