p. 3 Sigma Chi Chapter Celebrates Improved Academic Performance Men Stay Busy with Philanthropy and Events I n the fall of 2018, the men of Gamma Delta placed fifth in grades with a 3.205 GPA. We are very proud of this increase because our performances in previous semesters had not been up to par. After seeing what great things we accomplished with grades last semester, we plan on keeping grades a top priority in the house and will continue to push forward toward that first- place spot. We also had at least 50 members on the academic Dean's List. Buckets for Brandon This past semester, Gamma Delta competed in several sorority philanthro- py events and even won a few of them. As much fun as competing is, Gamma Delta knows that hosting a philanthropy event can be even more fun. We hosted our second annual Buckets for Brandon basketball tour- nament to honor our brother Brandon Cavazos '18, who passed away in 2016. One of Brandon's biggest passions was playing basketball with his brothers. We raised over $1,000 after it was all said and done. The money raised was donated to organizations and charities Brandon was passionate about during his time here at Oklahoma state. Three New Brothers This Spring During spring recruitment we pinned three men, and after five weeks we initiated all three of them. Our pledge educator called them, "A great group of guys that reflect our ideals in their daily lives." We are now moving into our fall recruitment and getting ready for Greek Discovery Day. Homecoming and Show Season Success Over the Homecoming and show season we were blessed with some great sorority pairings. For Homecoming 2018, we were paired with the women of Gamma Phi Beta. While paired with Gamma Phi Beta we also partici- pated in a community service event called Into the Streets. For the show season we were paired with the lovely ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma for Freshman Follies and Varsity Revue. We ended up winning Cheesiest Cast in Follies and winning Most Comical in Varsity Revue. This spring we were paired with Pi Beta Phi for our Spring Sing show. We are looking forward to great results from that pairing also. Brothers Involved on Campus We had many brothers involved in America's Greatest Homecoming, in- cluding Jackson Emery '19, who was Homecoming executive and led the athletic pride division. In our shows on campus, we had several members on the executive and steering teams. Alex Cannon '20 is on steering for both Varsity Revue and Spring Sing. Various other members are involved on several of the college's student councils, student government, and other collegiate organizations. This year has been a great year. We have created lots of memories that will last a lifetime, from pairings to Homecoming to Varsity Revue. We would like to thank our alumni for all their support because without them none of this would be possible. If you're ever in Stillwater, please stop by. We would love to see you.
