T his spring has been an amazing time for the members of KU Sigma Kappa. It's only been a few months, but so much has happened. Over winter break, 11 of our officers and I had the honor of attending the 2019 Regional Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. We learned about our personal strengths, working together, and goal setting while bonding with our chapter as well as Sigma Kappa chapters from across the region. We would work as a whole group, in our positions, and with our chapter throughout the weekend, giving us a fun, well-rounded experience. During this spring's informal recruitment, we welcomed 15 new members who have begun the promise program and new member education process. I can't wait for them to learn about Sigma Kappa's values and traditions and share in our sisterhood. W e have been hard at work maintaining the beauty and functionality of our chapter house to provide a quality living experience for our collegiate members. In such a large house, as you can imagine, there is never a lack of items on our to-do list. It seems lately our focus has been on repairing and/or replacing aging pipes. Many are starting to deteriorate and require immediate attention to avoid leaks and damage to property. It's not the most glamourous of tasks, but certainly a necessary one! This summer, in addition to our yearly cleaning and touch-ups, we plan to replace a number of windows in preparation for remodeling the second floor north and center wings, which will occur over the next couple of years. We appreciate your past and continued financial support as we attempt to update those living quarters. Recently, the Corporation Board and Advisory Board met to network on house-related issues. It was an extremely valuable time as we learned the plans that each board has moving forward. We want to further our collaboration in the future as communication is key in a large organization. We hope you will consider joining us on the Corporation Board. It is very rewarding work and we would love to have your input and expertise as we make impactful decisions for the future of our chapter. If you are interested, please contact me. Know that you are always welcome to stop by Xi, visit with House Director Joanie Calder, and take a look around.
