10 Think Back. Think Big. Think Beta. Excelling in Academics, Community, and Leadership Gamma Lambda Brothers Thankful for Generous Alumni T he Gamma Lambda Chapter continues the legacy of excellent performance. We re- main amongst the best in all aspects of the Greek community including academics, intramurals, shows, and recruitment! CHAPTER ACHIEVES SECOND HIGHEST IN GRADES Gamma Lambda has continuously proven to be a competitive academic organization at Oklahoma State, achieving a GPA of 3.39. This year, 39 brothers achieved a 4.0 GPA, placing them on the President's Honor Roll, as well as another 84 brothers who received a 3.5 GPA or higher! Once again, our fraternity has outperformed the Greek IFC average of 3.11 and the OSU all- men's average of 2.9. Gamma Lambda has been continually cultivating our intellect, closing the gap even more on a much smaller chapter that took first place above us by only .03. A WELCOME TO OUR NEWEST BROTHERS This spring, we welcomed 33 newly initiated brothers that were rushed by our previous Recruitment Chairman Jacob Kopenski '20. These young men exceeded our greatest expectations by having one of the earliest initiation dates in the recent past. They brought home a cumulative 3.37 GPA, and eight of the young men had a perfect 4.0. Most importantly, they continue to uphold the reputation of being men of principle that our chapter has built on campus. Many of the new brothers have been nominated for a position in our upcoming cabinet elections and they all show great leadership ambitions and characteristics. GAMMA LAMBDA'S NEW SHOW DIRECTOR LEADERSHIP Paired with the women of Zeta Tau Alpha, our talented brothers took home some great awards in this year's Varsity Revue. Our cast received most entertaining show, as well as best song choice. With nearly all the experienced directors stepping down before graduation, we had many young and promising brothers step up to the plate and take the responsibility of leading our chapter in directing shows. These young men have great ambition and ideas and we as a chapter are excited to see what they continue to accomplish in the future for Gamma Lambda. INTRAMURALS Beta has a strong name in the world of OSU intramurals. We have continuously had the highest participation rate of any fraternity on campus. We have won Greek-wide intramural championships 12 of the past 13 years. Although awards have not been granted yet for this year, I believe it is safe to say that this is a tradition that will continue for many years to come. BROTHERS PURSUE DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP TRAINING Many of these newly initiated freshman have expressed their interest in attending the John and Nellie Institute in Oxford, Ohio, this summer. The leadership skills that we teach and foster during our pledgeship program have clearly left a mark on many of these young men as they pursue interests in positions in the future. We are excited to see these brothers represent Gamma Lambda in Oxford while gaining the necessary leadership skills to lead our chapter. Also, this summer a few other men and I eagerly anticipate Beta's 2019 General Convention that will be held in Oxford. Our membership is extraordinarily grateful for the leadership and guidance provided by our advisors. We would like to thank Chase Colvin '14 as well as the rest of the advisory team for their diligent efforts in continually supporting our house. We were fortunate enough to have Chase and Anderson Brett '14 attend Keystone this year with our entire executive committee and we set in motion many great plans for our chapter's future. On behalf of the Gamma Lambda Chapter, I would like to extend our gratitude to you as alumni for your continual support. We have you to thank for the ability to thrive here in Stillwater. Each day as I watch our new Beta house go up I continue to appreciate those who came before us and built the bridge for those after them. When you find yourself in town, know that you are always welcome to stop by and I encourage you to do so. Our door is always open to visiting alumni. Yours in _Kai_, Ashton Conner '21 Chapter President ashton.conner@okstate.edu
