BETA THETA PI
HOMECOMING
LAWN DECORATION
W
ow, what a yard for America's greatest Homecoming last fall! Is
this a first in Beta history? Will this be a new tradition? For some of
us, new habits and norms are sometimes hard to adjust to. What happened
to fast pitch softball? What is the most important extracurricular activity
that we should be investing our time in? What happened to the greatest
pledge-member function we had all those years ago in December? Where
is that tiny sign we used to have in the yard? A very significant change in
"Beta land" is the all-encompassing push through our General Fraternity
in providing in-depth training for our future leaders, stressing leading a
balanced and principled life, and making decisions in chapter houses that
have their foundation in self-governance. In the "old days," we focused
on other ways of bonding and developing our lifelong friendships. Today,
the strength of bonding can be seen in a broader range of activities like
the yard decoration. Hours spent together toward common goals and
competition in the Greek community—and no more dance hours, but
greater opportunities to interface with sororities and engage in total fun
together. Congratulations to the chapter brothers for their continued
strong presence in campus endeavors at our beloved alma mater.
