8 Think Back. Think Big. Think Beta. ALUMNI UPDATE ALUMNI NEWS Edwin Lindly '42 writes a note with his gift, reminding us that he is 97 years old and still wants to support our housing effort. This is testament to a brother having a great Beta experience. His roll number is #361. While retired now, he is a Professor Emeritus at Kansas State University. He was the former CEO/ founder and chairman of the Gateway Mortgage Group. His pillars for building a stronger Oklahoma include prioritizing government efficiently, reforming the educational system, expanding economic prosperity, improving infrastructure, and fostering a healthy Oklahoma. CHAPTER ETERNAL, IN LOVING MEMORY Phillip (Mickey) Morton '53 passed on to Chapter Eternal in September 2018. He retired from Hunt Oil Company in 1993. He was an avid tennis player in his younger years and loved to sing. Jack Sellers '55 passed on to Chapter Eternal in July 2018. He was a loyal and true graduate of Oklahoma A&M. In 1956, Jack became an electrical engineer. He was an intramural college basketball player and president of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. He worked for 33 years with AT&T after service in the U.S. Army. Retiring from the phone company, a new career took off when he developed and managed the flight program at Tulsa Community College. His dedication to future pilots and engineers later developed into the pursuit of a master's in education and doctorate of education in 1996 and to volunteer leadership with youth robotics clubs, where he traveled across Oklahoma guiding them in competition and encouraging students. Dan Northcutt '59 passed on to Chapter Eternal in September 2018. While at Oklahoma State, he was a running back for the OSU football team. He graduated with a degree in geology and was an executive vice president for Harrison Gypsum until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and was on the Board of Directors for Valley View Regional Hospital for 30 years. Max Speegle '67 passed on to Chapter Eternal in November 2018. Max graduated from Stillwater High School in 1963 and was quarterback for the Pioneer football team while his father was coaching the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. His naval career included navigating 87 A-6 Jet combat bomber missions into North Vietnam and Laos from the decks of the aircraft carrier USS Ranger. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross during his tour on the Ranger. After his naval service, Max graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Juris Doctorate and master's degree in business administration. His professional career included 44 years of private law practice, adjunct teaching at UCO, and he made significant contributions to his community through service to government, education, civic, and religious organizations. Mike Patrick '72 passed on to Chapter Eternal in August 2018. Mike suffered a debilitating injury early in life, lived in Clinton, Okla., and worked at the Kellwood Factory as his health permitted. He loved his time on the Clinton High School football and golf teams. Chris Williams '86 passed on to Chapter Eternal in November 2018. Chris was a chapter president at the Beta house. He graduated from OSU in 1986 with a degree in business. He worked for Waste Management for 30 years and was an Area Vice President of Sales. Chris enjoyed golf, water skiing, snow skiing, and his excellent cooking of barbecue was enjoyed by many. 1970s brothers at the annual "Hot as Hell" golf outing in Western Kansas.
