Our Tradition, Our Key, Our Future 3 Ranked No. 3 in Panhellenic Community Delta Psi Raises Nearly $27,000 for Children's Miracle Network T he Delta Psi Chapter GPA for the spring semester was a 3.46 and we were ranked third overall for the Panhellenic community. We are proud to say that we increased our GPA for the fall semester by .17. We plan to continue our academic success by closely monitoring and encouraging our women to stay dedicated to their studies. We have implemented a new reward system that incentivizes our women to study hard. Nearly $27,000 Raised for Philanthropy The Delta Psi Chapter hosts two main philanthropy events: Kappa Klassic in the spring and Kappa Kookout in the fall. Kappa Klassic is a golf tournament that benefits our local philanthropy, Children's Miracle Network. This is an event where the girls ask any of their friends or family members to come join us and play in a tournament together. This year the tournament raised about $23,500—we were so proud of this outcome! Kappa Kookout takes place at our lodge on Greek Circle where we have a burger bar, backyard games, and music! Members invite their friends, family, and alumnae to come hang out with our chapter for the evening. This year we raised a little over $3,000 which will also benefit Children's Miracle Network. Thankful for Our Sisters, Delta Psi Parents Recruitment is always my favorite time of the year! It brings us together as a chapter more than any other time, and this year, we were so lucky to host our previous national president, Beth Black, for recruitment. She taught and assisted us in everything to do with recruitment. We truly could not have done it without her. Along with having a great group of women in our chapter, we also have their great and supportive parents. In September, we held Presentation and all of our new members were able to invite their parents. This weekend was a chance for them to get to see what kind of sorority their daughters joined. We could not have had a successful weekend without the help of our Delta Psi parents. We will forever be thankful for them! Texas Tech Homecoming a Success For Homecoming week, October 15-19, we were paired with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Together, we competed in the annual So Sing competition, which is where each matched sorority and fraternity performs a choreographed dance/ song at the United Supermarket Spirit Arena for the Texas Tech and Lubbock community to watch. Additionally, we participated in the Homecoming parade where we got to make and ride on our own float, driving around campus for the community to come and watch. Strengthening Our Sisterhood Our chapter accomplished many things throughout the past year and we continue to strive for academic excellence. Over the past year our sisterhood has moved forward to expand and strengthen our sisterhood. We are excited for our new chapter council to step into their positions and implement their new ideas into each of their positions. Next semester, our chapter will begin new reinforcements and plans with academics, public relations, and standards. We would like to thank the alumnae for their constant support and encouragement. Without their graceful and gracious hearts and love for Kappa, we would not be where we are standing now, and for that we are extremely grateful. I would like to personally extend an invitation to visit our lodge on Greek Circle at any time. Our chapter council and active members are proud of our lodge and would be honored to give you a tour of our home!
