T he Delta Psi House Board has had a busy fall seeing to the care and maintenance of the Delta Psi lodge at #9 Greek Circle. After recruitment in August, we realized there were a few things that needed to be done that would make the lodge experience even better for our chapter women. For security reasons, we decided to install exterior cameras at the front and back entrances. We hired a local company, Custom Electronics, to consult with and decide on the best placement for the cameras. They are now installed and work beautifully, have excellent definition, and we feel secure about who is coming and going at the lodge entrances. Another need we saw as the chapter women studied, worked, and met at the lodge was an effective way to communicate with each other from upstairs to downstairs. The perfect solution was an intercom system with microphones that work over the sound system, so they can make announcements from downstairs and upstairs across the lodge. Sometimes a large percentage of the women need to be on the internet on their phones, iPads or computers all at the same time. The Wi-Fi system was a problem until we figured out we needed two systems because of the usage and space involved. Now that we have two, we have better connectivity and reliability. Another feature the chapter really needed were doorbells. The lodge is large enough that a person just knocking at the outside door is often not heard. The doorbells and inside chimes are now set up. There are four internal chimes: one in the living room, one in the front study room, one in the chapter room, and one in the recruitment room. The doorbells are connected to the RING hardware and software app that can be sent to a phone. The person on the phone can hear and view who is ringing the door and even talk to them. The person whose phone is connected to this can view the front and back door at any time. It is a major security enhancement for the Delta Psi lodge. We also have the Atrium software program that controls our access cards to get into the lodge. All these improvements have been made with the safety and security of the Delta Psi Chapter women in mind. Thank you to all the Delta Psi alumnae who have supported and continue to support the house board's efforts at #9 Greek Circle!
