more engaged with Minnesota Alpha, which could result in increased interest in the
chapter's future and a potential capital campaign. A 1970s alumna summed it up
by saying, "The truth is that it is all about communication."
Overall, interviewees responded positively when asked about the University of
Minnesota, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity, and the Minnesota Alpha alumnae volunteer
leadership. This high level of confidence could indicate a willingness to support a
potential project for Minnesota Alpha.
C. Attitude toward proposed project
In this section of the feasibility study, the interviewees examined the two proposed
project plans. Using the project highlights and cost estimates, each aspect of the
two plans was discussed in detail. Responses are summarized in the following
paragraphs.
Alumnae were asked to assess how important pursuing a housing project, either the
sorority condominium complex or the renovation of the chapter house, would be
for future of the chapter. As shown in Chart C, 97% feel improving Pi Beta Phi's
housing situation is "Very Important" or "Important." This high ranking of
importance is an above-average response compared to other Pennington studies and
is a positive indicator that alumnae see the necessity for a housing project and may
have a desire to support the project should the alumnae leadership proceed with a
campaign.
