James W. McFarlane '54 E-576 is a retired Delta Airlines captain
and now owns and operates McFarlane Properties—houses, cottages,
and apartments in Lisbon, Portugal, and Southampton, N.Y. He and
his wife, Helga, have two daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer. E-mail:

James K. Olberding '58 E-665 is a semi-retired insurance agent with
MassMutual in Ames. He and his wife, Laura, winter in Naples, Fla., and
have traveled to Utah, Costa Rica, Cuba, Maine, Nova Scotia, Quebec
(riding Rocky Mountaineer), and Ireland. Their next adventures are
weekend getaways to Santa Fe, Denver, and West Point, where their son,
Ethan, is on the faculty. They also have a daughter, Sara. Jim is committee

Joseph Elstner '62 E-748 is a retired public affairs officer for AT&T
Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He spends time volunteering
and doing church work. He still plays keys in The Decades, a classic

Gary G. Eggers '63 E-783 and his wife, Jo Ellen, live in Half Moon
Bay, Calif. They have a daughter and son. Gary retired in 2015 after 40
years as a doctor of dental surgery. He stays in contact with Bill Hoefle

William F. Tubbs '67 E-942 has been named the recipient of ISU's
Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication's 2018 James W.
Schwartz Award and will be honored at a ceremony on October 25.
The annual award recognizes distinguished service to journalism and
communication and is the highest honor conferred by the Greenlee School.
Bill and his spouse, Linda, live in Eldridge and are co-owners and co-
publishers of the Eldridge North Scott Press and Wilton-Durant Advocate

Patrick D. Cole '09 E-2072 and his wife, Alexandra, welcomed Harper
Rose in May 2018. Pat is a roastmaster at Door County Coffee and Tea and
lives with his family in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. He plays in a charity golf event
with Fraters Evan McCann '09 E-2074 and Aaron McMinn '09 E-2077.

Charles B. Raike '13 E-2185 will graduate in May 2019 from the
University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management with an M.A. in
human resources and industrial relations. He interned with Microsoft in
Seattle this summer (2018). He and his fiancée, Madison, were married in
