C ollege campus living has changed significantly over the past 15 years. e experience is wholly different than what most of our alumni will remember. Residential facilities are the second most important factor in the college decision-making process behind the availability of a student's intended major. is is understandable considering that students spend 70% of their time within their living environment. It has become clear that we must make a major invest- ment in our chapter house if we are to remain competitive and provide a quality living environment. SPACE Chapter sizes at Ole Miss have grown considerably, and we no longer have enough space for all members to gather together in the chapter house. e chapter size is consistently over 200 and the current struc- ture of the house is unfit for the needs of the fraternity today. We know that this is not viable for the future, so our vision includes expansion of community spaces for the men to eat, meet, and socialize. PURSUING EXCELLENCE Ole Miss is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an en- hanced, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact Sigma Chi Fraternity University of Mississippi OUR NEEDS AND OPPORTUNITIES of technology over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now necessities, including personal computers, high-speed internet access, email, and more. Our plan will ensure that Eta excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. COMPETITION Housing both at Ole Miss and in Oxford is continually changing. e university has renovated and rebuilt several dormitories on campus. ese new dorms provide state-of-the-art living and learning spac- es with increased social and study space, as well as increased privacy in individual rooms. Additionally, developers continue to build new apartment complexes near campus. Most of the apartments include modern, updated spaces with luxury features such as pools, workout facilities, and common areas. In order to remain a premier fraternity on campus, we must update our facility to appeal to today's students while maintaining a competitive price. We can no longer meet the needs of our members; our chapter house is more than 60 years old and needs to be updated to ensure Eta Chapter is offering a first-class facility to our collegiate brothers. 3
