The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) completed roadway improvements requested by the City, to include a raised median and landscaping. The NCDOT has completed a three-month evaluation of the roadway and the safety improvements that have been constructed along Ramsey Street from Country Club Drive northward to the Fayetteville Outer Loop. Former Fayetteville Police Chief Danny Dixon passed away on Christmas Eve in Charlotte. Dixon served as Fayetteville's police chief from 1976 to 1984. 9 - PWC Board Meeting, 8:30 a.m., PWC Administration Building, 955 Old Wilmington Road The evaluation included an analysis of the before and after crash information along this section of roadway. The total number of crashes for the three years prior to construction of the improvements was 774 total crashes, or 258 crashes per year (CPY). The total crashes during the three-month evaluation period after construction was 29 total crashes, a projection of 116 CPY. The reception and funeral were held Dec. 26. A Fayetteville Police Department Color Guard presented colors at the funeral. Community Development Action Plan Meetings Scheduled A series of public meetings will be held by the City's Community Development Department to talk with citizens about community issues and needs in preparation of the department's 2013-2014 Annual Action Plan. Citizen input and participation is requested, so the department may improve existing programs or design new programs. The types of crashes per year, targeted by the improvements, (angle, left turn, sideswipe, and rear ends in the previous center left turn lane) were reduced from 166 total crashes, or 55.3 CPY, in the previous three years, to zero total crashes, during the three-month evaluation. 7RSLFV RI GLVFXVVLRQ ZLOO LQFOXGH +RXVLQJ HFRQRPLF development, community development and homelessness.
