6 T his past fall, many brothers from the 1980s and friends of SigEp came together to create the Vinci/Miller Scholarship Fund. In total, over 80 brothers came together for the event. e Vinci/Miller scholarships honor the memory of Chuck Vinci '84 and Jeff Miller '87, both influ- ential brothers deeply committed to SigEp. C huck Vinci '83 entered Chapter Eternal in November of 2016 at the age of 55. Chuck joined SigEp at the University of Illinois in 1980. He was a leader within SigEp, dedicated to re- cruitment and elected as house manager. His leadership came at a pivotal time in the chap- ter's history following a 1981 fire that nearly de- stroyed the chapter house. He was instrumental in recruiting his brother, Michael Vinci 86, and father, Frank Vinci '86, Renaissance Brother, to SigEp as well. Chuck was the proud father of his daughter, Evelyn, and loving husband to Diana. Chuck was a "get it done" kind of guy. He was deeply loyal to Sigma Phi Epsilon. He was also loyal to his friends and brothers, going out of the way to make them always feel welcome. He worked for Northrup Grumman for over 30 years, serving as an integral team member on projects protecting the lives of pilots serving in the U.S. military. He believed in the importance of science and math, and applied these subjects in a practical way during his life. J eff Miller '87 entered Chapter Eternal follow- ing a valiant battle with cancer on August 1, 2016, at the age of 51. He was initiated into SigEp in 1984, following in the footsteps of his father, Bob Miller '57. Jeff was the proud father of Grant Miller '19, a third-generation Illinois Al- pha SigEp, Lauren, and Ben, and a loving hus- band to Michelle. Jeff was passionate about life—giving 110 per- cent to everything he did. During his time at the chapter, Jeff served as pledge trainer and vice president. He vigorously played and coached intramural sports and organized football and basketball pools. He wasn't afraid to take risks and always helped brothers who needed a friend. Overcoming a vision impairment, Jeff was a strong scholar, turning his business de- gree into a successful self-owned business in Miller Industrial.
