INSIDE: Thank You, Generous Alumni • 2 Motivated for Success • 3 Congratulations, Graduates • 4 Chapter Officers • 4 ALPHA TAU OMEGA • UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN • SPRING 2018 A fter years of planning, months of construction, and the return of our active brothers to a renovated house, the Building on a Tradition of Excellence campaign is coming to a formal close on August 31, 2018. Through your efforts, we have raised more than $2.2 million toward this historic project. A huge amount of thanks goes to each alumnus and friend who contributed financially to the campaign, particularly those who in- creased their gift from the amount they initially pledged. The renovated house you helped create will significantly impact the long-term vitality of Alpha Tau Omega at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Your gifts not only sustain Alpha Tau Omega for the future, they're proof of the value you place in your Gamma Theta membership and the commit- ment you hold to better the lives of our undergraduate members. Simply put, your gift states that ATW matters. The academic support, brotherhood, and sense of community Gamma Theta provides today's young men can- not be underestimated. Our chapter is still a place that positively shapes the lives of undergraduates and will be for generations to come. As we admire our newly renovated house, there must be an understanding that more alumni support is still needed and imperative to pay down our bank loan. Five members of the capital campaign have signed personal guarantees and, in order to release these individuals, the mortgage needs to be reduced. To place Gamma Theta in a strong position financially, we must raise at least another $500,000 by our campaign deadline of August 31. This is roughly one half of the outstanding debt that is owed on the construction loan. You can help the campaign and show that Alpha Tau Omega matters to you by contributing in one of the following ways: • Make a new or additional one-time contribution, • Extend the gift you have already made by adding a sixth year to your pledge schedule, or • Accelerate your payment schedule and submit your next payment before year-end. Step up and become a legacy donor by securing your name on our es- teemed donor plaque in the renovated chapter house with a contribution of $5,000 or more. How you respond to Gamma Theta now will play a crucial role in ending our campaign successfully. With the campaign coming to a close, this is your final opportunity to have a hand in the recently renovated Gamma Theta house and prove that ATW matters to you. "UNL is a large school that allows students to be part of smaller groups that further your development as a person and a student," Dan said. During his freshman year, he quickly found his group of friends through ΑΤΩ. "I liked that the ΑΤΩ house had individuals from all over," Dan stated. "It was a clear choice to join the brotherhood." During his time as an undergraduate, Dan played on two Nebraska Na- tional Championship football teams, which he said took up an unbelievable amount of his spare time. Despite his involvement with the football team, Dan remained heavily involved in the chapter's activities. He later received his bachelor of science degree in business administration and man- agement from UNL in 1974 and his mas- ter's degree in business administration in 1975 while serving as a graduate assis- tant for the Huskers football team. His ca- reer in business began the same year he received his MBA when he ac- cepted a position with the investment division of the National Bank of Commerce in Lincoln. "I did not have a clue what I wanted to do with the rest of my life," Dan said. "I had an instructor that thought I should work at a bank where I could learn how people were making money."
