AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteer counselors provide free income tax preparation assistance to seniors and other quali- fied taxpayers with income that meets the VITA scope require- ment set forth by the IRS. Come into the COA/Neal Senior Center to pick up your pre-appointment package. The forms within the package must be completed and returned at the time of your appointment. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide trained/IRS certified counselors will be available on select days starting January 29th and continu- ing through April 18th. Appointment times will be filled in the order of pre-appointment pickup. Walk-Ins will only be accepted upon the failure of a confirmed appointment. Please keep in mind that you may not receive some 1095 (Health Insurance) forms until mid to late February and some 1099B (Brokerage) statements until Early March. Please sched- ule appointments accordingly. Married Filing Separately (MFS). Taxpayer and Spouse requesting MFS must appear together and requires two appoint- ments. Anyone receiving a Form 1095-A MUST file a federal return regardless of income. IRS certified counselors will provide the following FREE services: 1. Federal and NC/SC state income tax preparation assistance. 2. Electronic filing for both federal and state returns. 3. Printing of federal and state returns for client copy. Volunteer! Training and materials are furnished and take place at the Leona Neal Senior Center starting right after the new year. Become an IRS VITA/ TCE certified volunteer counselor and gain the satisfaction of providing a greatly appreciated FREE service to our elderly community. This is true of any com- pany, big or small. The Neal Senior Center relies on its vol- unteers and donations in order to provide the many services it does. The center is very grate- ful to those who have provided time, money, item donations and services to keep the Neal Senior Center in operation. The center is very sincerely when they say, "We couldn't do it without you!" Without the giving attitude of its supporters, the Neal Senior Center could not function. The center has a list of items that are especially needed. If you would like to contribute these items to the center, you may bring the items Monday- Thursday from 8AM-5PM and on Friday from 8AM-1PM.
