(706) 746-2606 FOR SALE FOR SALE A huge thank you goes to each of the sponsors that supported the annu- al Bass Fishing Tournament benefi ting Special Olympics Cleveland County. The tournament was held Nov. 4, 2017. For 11 years Special Olympics Cleve- land County has been the recipient of this tournament, which has raised more than $275,000.00 since its inception. This tournament's 1st place prize was of $6,000 was won by Guy Eaker and Gene Webster. The tournament is held each year at Pinnacle Boat Landing in Lake Norman on the fi rst Saturday of November. Each year volunteers from Eaton Corporation and Special Olym- pics Cleveland County Steering Com- mittee run this event under the guidance of Rick Peace. Special Olympics Cleveland County is a non-profi t organization and operates solely on fundraising and donations. This is by far the largest fundraiser that is held to help our program operate each year. The local program currently has over 300 registered athletes with the youngest being 3 years old and the old- est is 70 years of age. There is no age limit and no athlete ever has to pay a fee to join a team. We currently have 16 sports that travel to area, regional, and state level events. To be eligible for travel all athletes must fi rst compete at the lo- cal Spring Games. Without this tournament, the spon- sors and volunteers that make it such a success Special Olympics Cleveland County would not be able to continue to provide sporting events at the same ca- pacity that we currently provide. If you would like more information about this fundraiser or have any ques- tions about Special Olympics Cleveland County please contact Carol Goforth at 704-476-8050 (offi ce), 704-472-4546 (cell) or by email at cagoforth@cleve- landcountyschools.org.
