Whether they be with family, friends, your church or co-workers, there are numerous holiday activities that we enjoy doing that have turned into annual traditions. It wouldn't be Christmas without them! An annual tradition with the Neal Senior Center is the annual Christmas Feast. It's a fun and enjoyable time complete with good food, music, entertainment and a message about the season. This year's feast is set for Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 am. A special holi- day lunch will be served, followed by entertain- ment and a Christmas message to emphasize "the reason for the season". Reservations are required and tickets are $8.00 per person. The deadline for making reservations and purchasing tickets is Monday, December 11. To make a reservation, contact Mary Hamrick at the Neal Senior Center at 704/482-3488. Neal Senior Center's Annual Christmas Feast As an older adult, would you like a say as in what is going on at the General Assembly? Come out and meet our Senior Tar Heel Legislature, Freida Pauley on Tuesday, December, 12th, 2017 at 10:00am. Freida will be here to help inform and educate senior citizens on matters before the General Assembly and to hear from you regarding your needs. Please call (704) 482-3488 to make a reservation. Coffee and Conversation with your Senior Tar Heel Legislature December is the month to celebrate the inven- tion of BINGO! The origin of Bingo is said to have come from Italy's national lottery, which dates back to 1530. Toymaker Edwin S. Lowe first manufac- tured the game in 1929. While on a sales trip to Atlanta is where he came up with an inspiration for the game. He visited a small tent carnival where he would watch crowds playing a game similar to Bingo. Shortly thereafter, he printed his own cards, purchased some inexpensive prizes and invited some friends to help him test the game in his Brooklyn home. Since then, it has grown into a five-billion dollar a year charitable fundraiser. Let's celebrate "BINGO'S BIRTHDAY", in addi- tion to the Christmas season, on December 11! The Neal Senior Center will be hosting a special holiday/birthday edition of Bingo. This will have a guaranteed $599.00 jackpot and door prize give- aways. To give the event a party atmosphere, the playing area will be decorated, too. The prices of the cards will remain the same, just like regular Bingo. If you are familiar with playing Bingo at the Senior Center, then you will want to take part! If you have never played at the Senior Center before, this will serve as a fun way to become familiar with how it is played. Hopefully, once you have tried playing, you will want to return to play again! The Neal Senior Center hosts Bingo each Monday evening, beginning at 5:30pm. This pro- vides a good warm up for the 7:00 Games. The last game of the evening is the "jackpot" game, where you can win between $300-500 depending upon our attendance for the that evening. For further information about our Bingo game, or if you're interested in becoming a "Bingo Volunteer" to assist with the game, please contact Mary Hamrick at 704-482-3488.
