The weekend included golf, a reunion luncheon, a tour of the house renovation project, and a tailgate for the Miami vs. Cincinnati showdown Saturday evening in the annual Battle of the Victory Bell. Over 21,000 fans packed Yager Stadium in an attempt to "Bring Back the Bell," which has comfortably rested in Cincinnati for the previous 11 years, and unfortunately, remained with Cincinnati after a stunning 21-17 defeat. During halftime, Miami University honored Medal of Honor winner Terry Graves '67. He is Miami's only Medal of Honor winner. Rick Graves '71 accepted the honor on behalf of the Graves family. Also, this fall the Alpha Chapter entered the Greek Week arena for the first time. While fraternities and sororities compete in many of the traditional events, the Greek community also came together to raise money during the annual Crop Walk and donate blood to Hurricane Harvey victims in Houston. Miami held a Family Weekend October 6-8 with notable comedian and host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, performing for students and their family members. The chapter introduced many of their fathers to a great Beta tradition, Dad's Weekend, including a tour of the Beta Theta Pi administrative office (see photo on front cover). Rick Graves '71 accepted the Medal of Honor on behalf of winner, Terry Graves '67, at halftime during the Miami vs. Cincinnati game. 25-Year Members in 2017 Bryan K. Biller '95 Bradford B. We are continuously recruiting throughout the fall semester with plans to bring on 25- 30 new members in the spring. The advising team has worked hard to bring in and train three new advisers to bring us to a total of eight! This fall semester brought many firsts for the recolonization of Alpha, including Dad's Weekend, participating in Greek Week, Beta Burgers and Alpha Sigma Fries, and semi-formal.
