Delta Gamma page 3 A Lifetime Commitment Joanna Rosenow Shook '84 Reflects on Her ΔΓ Experience, Career D uring recruitment, Joanna Rosenow Shook '84 felt an immediate connection to Delta Gamma and the organization's commitment to "Do Good." She found the women of Alpha Upsilon to be laid back, fun, and energetic and has remained committed to the sorority throughout her alumnae years as well. "Delta Gamma helped me manage my time and also gave me confidence to talk to pretty much anyone," she said. "I've always been so proud of our 'Do Good' motto and our Foundation efforts." Joanna lived in the chapter house for three years and has fond memories of Snuffers trips for late-night fries and gathering together for dinner every night. As an alumna, she has served Delta Gamma in various advisory capacities and officer positions, and since 2008 has served on the Fraternity Cabinet as an alumnae development consultant, regional collegiate specialist, fraternity director of chapter operations, Region 3 nominating committee representative, and currently serves as Region 3 director. After graduation, Joanna started working at a health insurance company in Arizona, where one of the vice presidents took her under their wing and assigned her to special projects. This morphed into a role in community relations, where she was the company representative on local boards and developed a corporate giving program. Through these connections, Joanna was asked to head the marketing and community outreach efforts for the first Super Bowl in Arizona (Super Bowl XXX), which was a dream job. Eventually, Joanna decided to stay home and help raise her two children for several years until earning her group fitness certification and beginning a career in personal wellness for the past 17 years. "Take advantage of every opportunity you have while you are in school," she advises undergraduates. Joanna returned for Homecoming in November and enjoyed seeing Delta Gamma sisters from all eras. She and her husband, Jim, have two kids, Mattingly and Dallas, and in her spare time she likes to read, work out, play tennis, swim, travel, and discover terrific hamburger places. Joanna lives in Johns Creek, GA, and can be reached at joannashook@yahoo.com. AlumnAe updAte In Memoriam Charlotte Ware Haley '37 passed away on June 12 at the age of 99.
