Chi Zetagram 4 President's and Chancellor's Letter to Chi Zeta CHI ZETA HOUSE DEDICATION A SUCCESS Chapter House Complete–Your Support Is Still Needed S eptember 8-9, 2017, will go down as two great dates in Chi Zeta history. For those of you who were able to make it to Champaign that weekend, you will undoubtedly concur. e new house is tremendous, a source of pride for all of us. It's exceeded the expectations that I had when the project kicked off in January 2013 (May 2012 if you count the original organizing phone calls and meetings). Obviously, it wouldn't be reality today, or moving forward, without the financial support of our brotherhood. I am most proud and humbled to announce that you helped us exceed our fundraising goals, with a broad- based response of giving. Let's compare the project goals with the end results: TOTAL PLEDGES Original Goal (1/1/14): $2 Million Actual (10/23/17): $2,251,574 AVERAGE DONATION Original Goal (1/1/14): $8,163 Actual (10/23/17): $7,374 For all 306 donors, I thank you. Without your generosity, this project would not be a reality. Now does this mean we're done? No, my brothers, there's more to accomplish for us all. ose who have made pledges over time, please remember that we are counting on you to fulfill that pledge in full. To meet our cash obligations, several brothers made personal loans to the project reflecting these pledges, and they must be repaid over the coming months. We have a $3.4 million loan to retire now, and a chapter house to run and maintain. So this wouldn't be an official article from me if I didn't ask for something! Although the base of donors is indeed impressive, it could be larger. I hope all of you who have not yet pledged your support will do so soon. And we have held back a very special naming right or two in the hope of getting that "anchor" gi that has been elusive (we'd even re-cast the permanent plaque for the right gi!). If we can begin to retire this note quickly, it makes the operation of our chapter even more secure and could allow us to create scholarships and other programs that can improve our fraternity. Remember, we can still arrange for tax deductibility! Finally, we're extending the successful "You Can Still Make a Difference!" campaign, if you'd prefer to target your new donation to completing the final projects (see article on page 3). ere's plenty of opportunity for you to do your part. ank you for your continued support.
