James R. Boyle, M.D. SPECIAL TO NWA DEMOCRAT GAZETTE James R. Boyle, M.D., is a 1999 Graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., attended medical school at State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., with a subsequent residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y. He is American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery certified with a sub-specialty of fellowship trained in sports medicine. Dr. Boyle began private practice with Freeman Midwest Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine in July 2010. Dr. Boyle moved to Joplin and joined the staff of Midwest Orthopaedic immediately following completion of his fellowship training program in Sports Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass. Throughout his training, Dr. Boyle was continuously involved as a sideline physician for athletic activities at St. Mark's, Holy Cross and Hopkinton High Schools in Massachusetts. He has also provided sports medicine for the Lowell Devils, an AHL division hockey team; the Patucket Red Socks, a minor league baseball team; the New York Giants at their training camp in Albany, N.Y., during his residency at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. Dr. Boyle was actively involved in sports when he played football for the University of Maryland as an offensive tackle. Since he moved to Missouri, Dr. Boyle is team physician for North Eastern Oklahoma State in Miami, Okla., as well as team physician for Webb City High School. He is also actively involved with the athletes, coaches and athletic trainers of many of the other area high schools.
