In Memoriam
Alvis S. Ford, AF477, passed away on July
13. He and his wife, Pat, traveled as mission
volunteers to Japan, Peru, Ecuador, Miami,
and New Orleans. They spent much energy and
money cheering on any sports team associated
with the University of Alabama (even during
the dark times without national championships).
They went to professional baseball and football
games in person when they had the chance.
Alvis is survived by wife; son, Phillip; and
countless family and friends.
George M. Bilbrey, AF526, passed away on
February 9. A lover of classical music, he
served on the board of directors of the Asheville
Symphony. He was a director of the Asheville
Area Chamber of Commerce and also served
as a volunteer physician at the ABCCM clinic.
George was an avid tennis player, golfer, and
traveler, as well as a certified SCUBA master
diver and traveled on many dive trips with his
wife of 53 years, Diana. He took great pleasure
in the world of ideas, and could frequently be
found with a book, a cup of coffee, and a journal.
George is survived by his wife; two children,
George and Neville; four grandchildren; and
many family and friends.
