Hayden Hessler, AF1736, addresses the guests at the centennial celebration this fall.
Chapter President Hayden Hessler, AF1736, receives a plaque
recognizing 100 years of Alpha-Phi Zeta's existence.
I
t's been a busy fall for Alpha-Phi Zeta at Bama
this year. Lambda Chi Alpha celebrated our 100th
anniversary at the University of Alabama in
September. We were honored to have in attendance the
Grand High Alpha of Lambda Chi, Fletcher McElreath,
Mercer '87, as well as Executive Director Bill Farkas,
Butler '88. Each of these brothers gave inspiring talks at the
gathering.
High Alpha Hayden Hessler, AF1736, and this year's
officers were in attendance with the undergraduate Chapter,
including more than 40 new associate members.
Special thanks to Butch Camp, AF888, Bobby Ray Hicks,
AF520, and House Director Becky Schuler for their help in
making the 100th celebration so successful.
Homecoming was another opportunity for Lambda Chi
alumni and guests to gather and renew past relationships. As
usual, we took the opportunity to recognize the hard work of
not just the undergraduate members, but alumni as well.
Butch Camp was presented the Jerry Dean Hillman
Outstanding Alumnus Award.
Two undergraduates were awarded scholarships this
year. John Taylor, AF1810, was given the Zuma P. and
Charles L. James Scholarship, and Ross D'Entremont,
AF1786, received the Charlie "Mac" McPherson
Scholarship. Congratulations to each of these recipients.
