More than 100 years later, Leah Oldacre Taylor '77 embodied Tri Delta's ideals. For her sorority she provided leadership, scholarship, commitment, and kindness. She went beyond herself to make others and Tri Delta better. Leah passed away on October 15, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Known to many during their time at The Capstone, she was also known to others through her extended family members in the Chapter— sisters Suzanne Oldacre Boozer '81 and Leslie Odacre Sellers '82, sister-in-law Felice Floyd Oldacre '75, and niece Annie Oldacre '08—her successful legal practice, and her involvement with the University of Alabama. Upon the family's request, the Leah Oldacre Taylor Tri Delta Scholarship Fund at the University of Alabama has been established. The scholarship will allow the Chapter to recognize future members who, like Leah, uphold Tri Delta's principles through service to the Chapter and university community. It is a fitting legacy for someone who brought so much life through her generous and unselfish service. Born and raised in Prattville, Alabama, Leah graduated magna cum laude from the University. For Tri Delta, she served as vice president, pledge trainer, and flag football quarterback. She had a distinguished academic record as an Alumni Honors Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa, Mortar Board, Campus Activities executive board, and Omicron Delta Kappa. Leah was also an A-Club member, playing on the University's women's golf team. Leah practiced law for over 30 years in Prattville and Birmingham. She was a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American Association for Justice, the Alabama Association for Justice, and a fellow of the Alabama Law Foundation. She received numerous honors throughout her career, earning Super Lawyers distinction for the past nine years, including Top 25 Women in the Law. Aside from practicing law, Leah and her husband, Ted, engaged in breeding and raising thoroughbred horses in Kentucky and New York. They were named Breeder of the Year by the New York Racing Association in 2012. Leah was preceded in death by her father, Bill Oldacre, of Prattville and her stepson, Tedford Taylor, of Birmingham. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Ted Taylor; children, Leah Catherine Reader (Chris) of Montgomery and Charlie Taylor of Birmingham; two stepdaughters and a daughter-in-law, Caroline Crawford (David) of Atlanta, Tracy Sproule (Gordon) of Birmingham, and Kelly Taylor of Tampa; mother, Sue Fisher of Birmingham; brother, Bill "Spook" Oldacre (Felice) of Nashville; sisters, Suzanne Boozer (Trent) of Birmingham and Leslie Sellers (Doug) of Nashville; grandchildren, Melanie Crawford, Ben Crawford, Catherine Crawford, Olivia Sproule, Robert Sproule, Ford Taylor, and Pollard Taylor; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Alabama (reference Leah Oldacre Taylor Tri Delta Scholarship Fund), P.O. Box 870122, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487.
