Vol. 67 No. 11 The Buckeye Phi Psi Phi Kappa Psi s The Ohio State University s Fall 2017 OHIO DELTA W Big Moves for Ohio Delta Chapter Donates $10K to Charity, Plans for New Gym ith the first portion of the fall semester complete, I would like to offer a recap of Ohio Delta Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi's spring and preview some of our upcoming projects. Our brotherhood continues to stand as a top Fraternity at The Ohio State University, with improvements in academics, recruitment, brotherhood development programs, philanthropy, and new member education. GPA and New Member Course Database Phi Psi holds a 3.24 cumulative grade point average, which is on par with the Greek average and above the university cumulative GPA. Last semester, we created a chapter-wide database of the classes members have taken previously. Each semester, that database can be referenced and members can receive advice and help from brothers who have already taken a particular course. This new system, along with the addition of GPA as a factor of the in-house room selection order, has improved our cumulative GPA by .05 over the course of a semester. I'm incredibly proud of the work our guys have put in to achieve this level of performance and believe that the programs we are instituting under Scholarship Chairman David Sorger '18 will allow us to report further improvement in upcoming semesters. $10,000 and 1,000 Hours for Philanthropy In the spring, we raised over $10,000 and donated over a 1,000 hours of community service. This success was largely driven by our signature event, the Greek Bowl, a football game between the Ohio Deltas and the men of the Sigma Chi chapter. This semester, we will host a brand-new philanthropic event, including a pig roast and tug of war tournament, both of which are highly anticipated. Our efforts benefit organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Columbus and the ALS Association. We also support the causes of other chapters on campus by participating in their events and fundraisers. Under the leadership of Philanthropy Chairman Jackson Reid '19, I am hio Delta Chapter welcomes new house director, Max Pristic, Ohio Nu '13, a second-year student in The Ohio State University's J.D./ MBA program. As an undergraduate Phi Psi at Ohio University, Max served as recruitment chairman and social chairman for the Fraternity, and vice president of programming and president for the Interfraternity Council. He enjoys playing golf, spending time with family and friends, and watching Cleveland sports. Upon graduating with his joint degree, Max would like to practice corporate law or find a job in wealth management.
