THE ORACLE A L P H A - O M I C R O N Z E TA O F L A M B D A C H I A L P H A AT I N D I A N A U N I V E R S I T Y / FA L L 2 0 1 7 Alpha-Omicron Celebrates 100 Years N eedless to say, this has been an extremely busy year for Alpha- Omicron. Celebrating our 100th anniversary on the Indiana University campus this spring was quite an event. The most memorable part of the day was watching alumni from many eras reacquainting and sharing stories for everyone in attendance. I cannot express how wonderful this event was, and I am especially grateful to our '60s graduates who made the effort to attend. Thank you again to all the alumni and undergraduates for taking the time to rekindle our beloved brotherhood bonds! CHAPTER WELCOMES LIVE-IN ADVISOR We begin the school year with our undergraduate membership at 185 brothers in the chapter. They hold a 3.145 GPA which keeps Alpha- Omicron around 11th out of 33 fraternities. We also will have our first live-in adviser in the house, Patrick Mazzocco. He is a graduate student and will be another mentor for our membership. We are thrilled with this hire, and he will fit right into the house. BROTHERS PARTICIPATE IN LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES Several of our young men represented Alpha-Omicron at the Stead Conferences this past July thanks to our Alpha-Omicron Educational Foundation. Its financial support allows our membership to attend these critical conferences and to grow in their roles as chapter officers. ALUMNI ALWAYS WELCOME Homecoming is just around the corner on October 14th. We again welcome everyone to come back to Bloomington and reacquaint themselves with Alpha-Omicron, the brotherhood, and the Indiana University campus. We hope to see you then! Fraternally, Tony Drake '84 House Corporation President (603) 336-8973 | tdrake1219@gmail.com Alumni gather at the chapter house to celebrate the 100th anniversary. A lpha-Omicron has been on the campus of Indiana University for 100 contiguous years, which is quite an accomplishment to celebrate. In April, we had the opportunity to celebrate with quite an event that a number of brothers were able to attend. There were more than 350 guests, which speaks volumes to the strength and continued interest in seeing our chapter succeed. The weekend started with the burying of a time capsule in the front lawn of the chapter house that was followed by a tailgate at the Indiana versus Nebraska baseball game, and it culminated with a formal dinner. As a part of that evening's events, we had the pleasure of hearing from our distinguished speakers, including Judge Michael Kanne '62, Judge Ken Todd '67, and Grand High Phi David Huffine '72. At the end of that evening's proceedings, a couple renderings were displayed of the upcoming renovations. These changes will only be successful with the continued support and involvement from our alumni and undergraduates. From the strong attendance and positive feedback given for both the event and renovation ideas, Alpha-Omicron is in a great position to be a leader on campus for years to come. A special thank-you for this event goes out to House Corporation President Tony Drake '84, Bob Disinger '83, and High Pi Joe Folkening '88. These brothers put a great deal of time and effort to see that we had successful and memorable centennial celebration. Vice President of Publications Michael Blue '02 is confident that the strength of the chapter is through its academics, leadership on campus, and membership, which will provide another celebration in 100 years. Because of the success of Alpha-Omicron, it has allowed us to stay connected to our brothers and Indiana University. Congratulations, Alpha-Omicron! We know the chapter will have continued success for the next 100 years. A Grand Centennial Celebration Bob Disinger '83, Michael Kanne '62, and Danny O'Connor '18 at the 100th anniversary event.
