Alpha Slants of BETA THETA PI A L U M N I N E W S L E T T E R S U M M E R 2 0 1 7 I n March, an initiative for Alpha Chapter was announced—the Forever Alpha capital campaign to renovate and expand our historic home at 200 East High Street. Since then, more than 100 brothers have contributed gifts or increased their initial commitment. This rush of excitement has added more than $600,000 to the total raised in our campaign. The momentum continues as we begin to see the outline of our new home take shape. We broke ground in early August and work is happening at a quick pace. With a 365-day timeline to complete the project, we're planning for an August 2018 move-in. Alumni will be able to visit the chapter house during Alpha Chapter alumni weekend October 27-29, so be sure to stop by and see what your generous donations are helping achieve. If you aren't able to make it, you can view our live feed of construction at http://foreveralpha.org/house-plans. CAMPAIGN STILL NEEDS SUPPORT To see our vision of a new Alpha Chapter house finally taking shape is exciting and a tangible symbol of the hard work and effort our campaign volunteers have invested in this endeavor. However, there is still much to be done. To date, we have raised $2,923,964, which means we are still $1,070,036 from successfully reaching our $4 million goal. Evidence of our growth presents itself in the high levels of class participation among brothers. The classes currently leading the way are 1942 (50%), 1981 (47%), 1978 (46%), 1973 (44%) and 1959 (41%). A list of those who have contributed $2,500 or more can be found on page 2. Every donation is appreciated, no matter the size, and all donors will be listed in the dedication program and the final campaign publication. Don't forget, the Mitch Rales Challenge is still ongoing. In addition to his outright gift of $100,000, Mitch has agreed to match 20% of every new gift (after March 1) up to $200,000! Additionally, Tim Pistell is offering a challenge to the class of 1969 (see box below for details). Don't wait to take advantage of these limited opportunities and add your name to our esteemed donor list today. We believe this is a critical time for the Alpha Chapter that requires the effort of all Alpha alumni. While no process is perfect, thousands of hours have been in invested to ensure this generation is fully supported and our chapter culture sustains itself long term. With more than $1 million left to meet our goal, we ask that if you have not contributed, please fill out the enclosed pledge card and return your commitment today. Please, do not delay. We need your support to ensure our construction project is completed with as little long-term debt as possible. If you have already contributed, please consider adding a year to your pledge schedule or rally your class to make a group gift. If you have not contributed, now is the time! As you can see, this project is happening and we need the support of every brother to achieve success. Be sure to visit our new campaign website for regular photos and updates of the house, as well as to contribute online— http://foreveralpha.org. "To whom much is given, much is expected." Campaign Needs Another $1 Million to Hit Funding Goal Class of '69 Challenge T im Pistell is challenging the class of 1969 to raise $75,000 in new donations. If they do so, he will contribute $25,000 in addition to the $50,000 he has already pledged to the campaign. Raising the stakes even higher, if the class of 1969 (excluding Tim) can contribute $150,000, Tim will give another $25,000, for a total class gift of $250,000 ($100,000 from Tim and $150,000 from 1969 brothers).
