Maxwell thrive so active and future sisters can have a great experience in a modern and enjoyable environment." Beta Chi Committed and Excited for Campaign Chapter President Reflects on Membership, Chapter Progression O n behalf of the Beta Chi Chapter, I am pleased to express our full support of the Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The New 238 E. Maxwell campaign. We are committed to what the future holds for Beta Chi and take great pride in our history and reputation our alumnae have created for us. Membership in Kappa Kappa Gamma has been the principal part of all of our college experiences by providing us with the initial structure we need to succeed in college and in leadership opportunities, and gave us the best friends and times we could hope for. Throughout my time in the chapter, I have seen great improvement in many areas, especially in academics. During my freshman year, the chapter had a cumulative GPA of a 3.37. In 2016, we were able to increase that to a 3.51, ranking us third-highest GPA among UK sororities. With hard work and dedication, Beta Chi has consistently earned a GPA above the Panhellenic average and, last fall, nearly half of our members earned GPAs above a 3.7. Outside of the classroom, members have gone above and beyond. Not only did Beta Chi host three Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) events and donate 800 books for the children at Tates Creek Elementary, we are proud to say we raised enough money to host a second RIF event this year at Russel Cave Elementary School. This fall, we plan to donate more than $2,000 worth of school supplies and pair our members with teachers to provide additional assistance throughout the school year. As we strengthen our relationships with Lexington elementary schools, it becomes clear to me that the dedication our members show toward our philanthropy is one of Beta Chi's strongest suits. However, the biggest accomplishment that I have seen in my time at Beta Chi was our induction into the Adelphi Society at the 2016 National Convention for donating more than $10,000 to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. Receiving this recognition proved Beta Chi's dedication to ΚΚΓ and showed how proud we are to call ourselves sisters of this organization. The renovations for the chapter house will allow two major things to transpire. First, it will provide members with a state-of-the-art facility to live in, fostering a better atmosphere for members to thrive. Secondly, the renovation will help Beta Chi remain competitive with the recruitment of new members. Most other University of Kentucky sorority and fraternity chapters are still in the planning stages for renovations, so this is our chance to stay ahead of the curve. It is my sisters' goal and mine to leave this chapter better than when we came. With new renovations, the house will fuel sisterhood for years to come. Beta Chi is entering a very crucial time in our journey, and we realize that your support is invaluable. We want to share our successes with alumnae everywhere because they are yours as much as they are ours. Your time, talent, and treasure will be critical as we undergo this transition and continue the tradition of excellence we have worked so hard to create. I ask that you take the time to reconnect with your sisters in hopes of making this house a home for Kappa Kappa Gammas of all generations.
