OUR PROUD HERITAGE P hi Kappa Tau at Mississippi State boasts a proud history from our founding in 1938 and was an integral part of Greek life on campus for more than 58 years. The house at 304 South Jackson provided a home away from home for more than 500 living alumni members. We came to the house for a number of reasons: to enjoy the brotherhood and camaraderie, to enjoy a football game day, to cram for that all-important final exam, or, perhaps, even prepare for a night out in Starkville. For whatever reason you came to Phi Kappa Tau, we always had a place to call our own. Many of our best college memories can be traced back to our Phi Kappa Tau experience at Mississippi State and the house we called home for so many years. Alpha Chi has a proud history of diverse membership coming from all over the United States. While many of our alumni have gone on to successful and distinguished careers in law, business, engineering, technology, and countless other endeavors, the common bond of our brotherhood remains, along with our shared principles and values. Through Phi Kappa Tau we not only learned the importance of friendship, knowledge, service, morality, and excellence, but we acquired valuable assets, which include leadership skills, organizational skills, social skills, teamwork, and character. For many brothers, these traits have been integral to our personal success and helped make us the men we are today. Although it was sad to see the chapter leave campus in 1996, a new challenge awaits Alpha Chi. We have the opportunity to continue our legacy at Mississippi State by providing Alpha Chi a new house that will resemble our old home on South Jackson and raise the standard of Greek housing in Starkville. We call upon you to remember the opportunity afforded by the brothers before you and ask you to help us ensure the Phi Kappa Tau experience is available for future generations at Mississippi State to become men of exemplary character. The Embracing Your Alpha Chi Legacy campaign is designed with input from the house corporation, undergraduates, the architectural firm McCarty Architects, professional fundraising guidance, and the feedback from alumni from six decades. Cemented by the rich history, traditions, and values of Alpha Chi, but acutely focused on making an impact on our young men, this campaign will have an influence on our fraternity chapter and the university for years to come.
