A NEW START FOR ALPHA CHI W ith support, assistance, and significant resources from Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity and local alumni, Alpha Chi returned to the Mississippi State campus in May 2014. Utilizing a values-based recruiting approach, the new colony again established Alpha Chi as a major player in the Greek community at Mississippi State. In fact, the recolonization was so successful that Alpha Chi quickly received its charter and was installed in the spring of 2015. This new group of men has seen the value in joining Alpha Chi even without a home to call their own. They have bought into the same beliefs and principles that drew us and convinced us Phi Kappa Tau was the right choice for Greek membership years ago. Although the new Alpha Chi may be different from what we knew, aided by local alumni oversight and advisement, it is committed to maintaining the traditions and excellence that we knew in our days spent in Starkville. We must also recognize the difference in the needs of today's students versus what we knew from our days on campus. New technology and systems not present in our time on campus must be accommodated. Additionally, Mississippi State is more academically challenging than ever, and we must ensure our facility allows students to succeed while we also compete with new campus residence halls, luxury apartments, and other fraternity homes. The new Alpha Chi is a group to be proud of, and one that we will all be excited to watch grow. We are asking alumni and friends to make a significant investment that will ensure the long-term success of Alpha Chi on the Mississippi State campus. Our vision for the new house will allow Alpha Chi to recruit and attract the best men on campus, but we can be assured the group has already been positioned for success. CHAPTER SNAPSHOT ACADEMICS • Spring 2017 GPA: 3.14 • Fall 2016 GPA: 2.92 • Spring 2016 GPA: 3.13 (second highest among all fraternities) • Fall 2015 GPA: 2.96 • Spring 2015 GPA: 3.10 MEMBERSHIP • 63 members (the largest in Alpha Chi Chapter history) • Third-largest formal recruiting class of all fraternities in fall 2015
