Since the Bucket Calf Division was created to judge the individual exhibitor, not the animal, each exhibitor will be limited to one entry only. 2. To design a cattle project to fit the physical size and maturity level of younger youth. 3. To teach proper health care and nutritional requirements of younger cattle. 4. To teach basic management skills without a large investment. 5. To provide a better understanding of cattle. 6. To teach the child to relay information learned about the calf to the judge when asked. 7. To assist the child in learning to concentrate on an object and the environment they are in. 8. To teach the proper use of show equipment (I.E. combs, show sticks, etc.). 9. To teach the exhibitor how to show their animal using proper show techniques (I.E. walking in reverse, setting their calf up). Rules: 1. All calves must be halter broke. 2. Calves must have been bottle or bucket fed. No calves may be left on the cow. 3. Calves must be born after April 1, 2017. 4. Bull and heifer calves will be shown in their respective classes together. Beef and dairy calves will be shown together as well. 5. Proper use of show equipment is strongly encouraged. (I.E. show sticks, combs, etc.) 6. Proper show technique is strongly encouraged. (I.E. walking in reverse, setting the calf up.) 7. All participants are required to have fun. 8. All participants are required to display a poster (containing pictures about the calf and exhibitor) at all times. Judging Criteria: 1. What the youth has learned about caring for and raising their calf. 2. Fitting and showing according to either beef or dairy guidelines, with emphasis on how much the youth can do without help. However, parental guidance is encouraged. 3. The general health of the calf and knowledge of the youth in health related areas. 4. The quality of the calf will not be considered, since purchase was not made on that basis. 5. Originality of their poster giving the animal's name and any other information desired. These posters must be displayed above the stall at the fair and include pictures taken during the project. 6. How well the youth keeps their animal and stall clean during the fair. General Information: 1. Please include your child's age and birthdate on their entry form. 2. Any calves that meet the requirements for the junior dairy show are eligible to enter their respective class as well. 3. Beef calf exhibitors will not be allowed to enter the beef show. 4. Each child will be interviewed on a one-on-one basis about their calf by the judge. 5. Help for your child while in the ring will be provided if needed. 6. Stalls are pre-assigned. All calves will be stalled together. Divisions: Children 5 years old and 6 years old Children 7 years old to 8 years old Swine Judging 8 a.m. Friday Superintendents-Richard & Sandy Huston 1. No animals in stall until checked in with department superintendents. Stalls will be pre-assigned by show committee. 2. Cannot show the same gilt in breeding and market class. 3. Pens must be cleaned before premium checks are released. 4. Hogs will be allowed to weigh one time only. Hogs will be weighed at 9 p.m. Thursday. Show at 8 a.m. Friday. 5. Grand Champion trophies will be awarded only if there are at least 3 head in a particular breed and sex, excluding market hogs, which must have at least 3 head total. 6. No Boar can be shown in showmanship contest.
