4 BOBCAT SIG We are very proud of our undergraduate brothers and their many accomplishments! Brothers honor Karston Waarvick '15 by cleaning his dedicated highway section. Beta Rho Chapter Wins Fraternity of the Year, Prepares for Another 100 Years at MSU B eta Rho has been working hard in preparation of celebrating the 100- year anniversary of our chapter's founding. Brothers have improved the chapter in many different areas: academics, alumni relations, having greater on- and off-campus involvement, and truly exemplifying what it means to be a Sigma Chi. Our hard work has paid off immensely, as Beta Rho Chapter was recently recognized by our campus with awards for Fraternity of the Year, Most Improved Fraternity, and Best Fraternity Recruitment at the 2016-17 Greek Awards Banquet. We are looking forward to a fantastic upcoming year, packed with many great opportunities for each member to grow and to help the chapter reach new levels of success. PUTTING IN THE TIME With our most recent chapter GPA of 2.84 on the rise to the goal of a 3.00, we are striving to instill a culture where every single brother understands the importance of their academics. The current GPA landed us third among the other chapters on campus. Beta Rho hopes to earn first place with the continued use of our scholarship raffle system that incentivizes high grades on exams. BROTHERS AIM TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE ON AND OFF CAMPUS As always, the chapter has been keeping up with its great off-campus volunteering events. We have visited God's Garden just outside of Bozeman to help when needed and honored Brother Karston Waarvick '15 by cleaning his dedicated highway section. Through the coordination efforts of a local resident in our neighborhood, we had the opportunity to be involved in a neighborhood-wide cleanup event that benefits everyone in the area. One of the largest goals for the chapter in the upcoming year is to improve our on-campus involvement by hosting, co-hosting with sororities or other fraternities, or doing small volunteering jobs for any events on campus we can find. The chapter hopes that this will expose brothers to a wider range of the students to interact with every day. BRINGING IN THE FUTURE OF OUR CHAPTER The new P4B program has integrated perfectly into our pledge education system. "The new pledge program has been difficult for the chapter as a whole to adjust to, but with the exceptional fall and spring classes, we were able to easily make the adjustments. This will become tradition sooner than we know it and we are very proud of how it has turned out. The main goal was to ensure the message of what it means to be a Sigma Chi was upheld along with Beta Rho traditions. This was accomplished through the help of all the brothers, supportive alumni, and hardworking pledges," Magister Jakob Wegenast '18 says. LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER GREAT 100 YEARS With the centennial celebration shaping up to be a real tribute to the excellence that Beta Rho has achieved on this campus, the chapter realizes that we are the foundation for the next 100 years. We all look forward to meeting more alumni and showing you what we are made of. A schedule of events for the celebration, as well as information on lodging, travel accommodations, etc., can be found at www.bobcatsigs.org/centennial. Questions, comments, and/or concerns regarding the celebration can be directed to sigmachibetarhoalumni@gmail.com or Norman Achen '66 at norm@normanachen.com. We all hope to continually make each and every one of you proud to be a Sigma Chi and look forward to the future of Beta Rho.
