BOBCAT SIG Summer 2017 the Beta Rho Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity Montana State University FEATURES: Thank You, Donors 2 • Alumnus Spotlight 3 • Beta Rho Wins Fraternity of the Year 4 OVER $1.3 MILLION RAISED TOWARD BETA RHO'S VISION FOR 2025 S ince announcing the Honoring Our Past 100 Years: Beta Rho's Vision for 2025 capital campaign in February, we have seen tremendous success. Brothers from all generations and decades have joined our cause, donating $181,000 in new gifts and adding 66 new donors to our list of contributors. With over $1.3 million raised in total, we are getting closer to our $1.5 million goal. Every dollar raised will go toward renovating the chapter house, a vital component of our Vision for 2025 campaign to secure the next 100 years of Beta Rho. The current chapter house, which has housed Beta Rho for the past 55 years, has been a foundation for success, friendships, and the common bond of Beta Rho brotherhood. However, the house is structurally and mechanically out of date, lacks adequate space to house today's chapter, and cannot compete with the growing campus housing market. It is up to us, the Beta Rho alumni, to fix these issues and ensure the chapter house will be a foundation for the next 100 years. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to band together to positively impact the future of our chapter and ensure the next generation of brothers is able to develop into leaders and make lifelong friends, just as we did. The success of today's chapter is easy to see. This spring they had the honor and distinction of winning Fraternity of the Year, Fraternity Membership Recruitment Excellence, and Most Improved Fraternity of the Year at the Montana State University Fraternity & Sorority Life awards. Beta Rho Chapter has also earned four J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Awards from Sigma Chi International Headquarters in the past five years. The active brothers are working hard to make sure Sigma Chi continues to be one of the best frater- nities on campus, and by supporting the capital campaign, our alumni are doing the same. In Hoc, Campaign Co-Chairmen Norm Achen '66 Richard Dissly '66 norm@normanachen.com rdissly@comcast.net Beta Rho received the Fraternity of the Year, Most Improved Fraternity, and Best Fraternity Recruitment awards at the 2016-17 Greek Awards Banquet. Commitment to Leadership and Development Lands Sigma Chi on National Television S igma Chi was approached last year by a production company that produces a series entitled "Behind the Scenes with James Earl Jones." The production company indicated it found Sigma Chi's focus on leadership and character development to be refreshingly distinct from what is commonly associated with modern fraternity life. As such, they wanted to produce a short segment about the value we bring to the lives of the men who join and, by extension, the communities with which we come into contact. The first scheduled release was a one-minute segment that was featured on April 13 across the United States on Fox Business Network. This same segment was then played regionally in the top 100 markets in the United States over the next few weeks during primetime on CNBC, CNN, CNN Headline News, Family Channel, Fox News, and MSNBC. Subsequently, the full eight-minute video was released to public broadcasting stations across the country for consumption by viewers in up to 300 different markets.
