To register, call Cindy Simmons at 840-6119. The pastors of Tehama County, who lead Faith Works, encourage you to come out and support this event to reduce the homeless population in Red Bluff and the greater community. The women and chil- dren affected by abuse of- ten arrive at Alternatives to Violence with nowhere to live once they have decided to leave their abuser. Faith Works want to help keep them off the streets. Faith Works in Tehama County invested more than $12,000 in 2016 for individuals and fami- lies in crisis to help with their needs, such as keep- ing families with finan- cial crisis in their homes, helping people into per- manent housing solu- tions, getting people into transitional housing and helping with utility bills. It gives priority to veter- ans in need, collaborates with Alternatives to Vi- olence and is a partner with PATH. FAITHWORKS Charitygolf tournament set for April 29 United States army of- ficers have for several weeks past been making tests in hauling a seven- inch, one and a half-ton siege-howitzer, which or- dinarily takes ten pair of mules to transport. This is the largest field siege gun in the United States army service. The Go- odrich equipped Hewitt- Ludlow new commercial tractor, with a short base, is peculiarly adapted for hauling a heavy load of this sort. A tractor with the gun attached, al- though weighing a total of three tons, can negoti- ate any hill in San Fran- cisco where there is a road, and at a tremendous increase of speed over the old fashioned mule power. —April25,1917 100 YEARS AGO...
