Property owners can submit their formal appeal to the Board of Equalization and Review by mailing a completed appeal form to Cumberland County Tax Administration, P.O. Box 449, Fayetteville, NC 28302-0449. Property owners who file a formal appeal will receive notice by mail of a date, time and location to present their appeal to the Board of Equalization and Review. If the property owner cannot attend, the board will hear the appeal in their absence, considering all documentation provided. Changes in value can only be made if the property owner provides supporting evidence for consideration. Examples of evidence include recent appraisals, sales of similar properties in the neighborhood, cost estimates of structural repairs or pictures of the property showing other than typical conditions. A formal appeal form can be obtained at the tax administration office, located in Suite 530 of the Cumberland County Courthouse, 117 Dick St., Fayetteville, or online at co.cumberland.nc.us/tax.aspx. Better Living & Library Cumberland County Cooperative Extension will present the Better Living series workshop "Couponing and Grocery Saving Basics" on March 17 from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at the Agriculture Center, 301 E. Mountain Dr., Fayetteville. WRAL TV-5's Smart Shopper Fay Prosser will host the workshop to help teach the ins and outs of couponing and other cost-saving tips. March To Work Job Fair March 21 Cumberland County Job seekers are invited to the annual "March to Work" Job Fair on March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crown Expo Center, 1960 Coliseum Dr., Fayetteville. The job fair is free and open to the public and will feature the award-winning Internet Job Café hosted by the Cumberland County Public Library to help job seekers submit online job applications. The Cumberland County NC Works Career Center will provide staff and services to help job seekers with resume review, NC Works registration, veterans services and career training services and information. Free van transportation will be provided between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. with pickups about every 15 minutes at the Hillsboro Street entrance of the Department of Social Services and the NC Works Career Center at 414 Ray Ave. The last trip from the Crown Expo Center will depart at 3 p.m. The City of Fayetteville Transit Department will provide vans to pick up job seekers from Westover Recreation Center, 267 Bonanza Dr., and Cliffdale Branch Library, 6882 Cliffdale Rd. Cumberland County DSS has partnered with the Cumberland County Public Library, City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville Technical Community College, Public Works Commission, NC Works Career Center, Beasley Media Group, Copiers Plus, Hardee's and McDonald's to present the annual job fair. Job seekers are advised to dress professionally; bring plenty of resumes and black ink pens; and be prepared for short, on-the-spot interviews with potential employers.
