ByEddiePells TheAssociatedPress HOUSTON Hevaluestheteam's overall culture ahead of its indi- vidual parts. He rules his team with an iron fist, and yet, instills that team with a sense of family. He can appear heartless โ€” quick to say "goodbye" to those who no longer fit in โ€” and yet, he is deeply loyal. He has hard-and-fast ideas about how to run his own team, but is never against learning and adding bits of others' exper- tise to his own repertoire. Yes, this is a description of New England coach Bill Belich- ick, who can set himself apart Sunday by winning a record fifth Super Bowl title as a head coach. It's also a description of for- mer Steelers coach Chuck Noll, former Cowboys coach Tom Landry and current Alabama coach Nick Saban. As well as San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and for- mer UCLA coach John Wooden and pretty much every other person who has cemented him or herself on the Mount Rush- more of the profession. "Xs and Os are the price of ad- mission," says John O'Sullivan, founder of the Changing the Game project, who speaks of- ten about the importance of coaching in society. "Our next game is Orland, that's the biggest game on the schedule," said Cardinals coach Kurt Wilkins after the game, in- dicating the team wasn't looking past its next game each week. A win against the rival Trojans would tie the school record set by the 2006 section champs at 22-0. Wednesday night started out as the Noah Zoppi show, with the junior downing five 3-pointers by the opening minutes of the sec- ond period. Brendan Hoag chimed in with 11 points of his own in the half and Corey Busta put up nine be- fore halftime. The Honkers kept the game within reach despite the hot shooting from the Cardinals, down just 23-16 after the first quarter, but the Cards would open it up in the second to take a 42-26 into the half.
