3 I n 1978 Bob Strecker pledged Mu Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at the University of Washington. The only thing known at the time of his pledging was that he was a man of outstanding character and a perfect fit into a large and carefully selected pledge class. Little did anyone know or suspect that he would become one of the most trusted and greatest leaders of Alpha Sigma Phi at Washington. Bob was involved in the House as an undergraduate, but he began showing his long, enduring, and indelible imprint on the Chapter after he graduated. In July, 1986 Bob became the Grand Chapter Advisor of Mu Chapter. Do the math! Yes, that is 30 years and 6 months. Three Decades! Bob's loyalty and devotion to our fraternity is a milestone in Mu Chapter history. No one knows more Mu Chapter alumni than Bob Strecker. His personal, one- on-one relationships with alumni is impressive. Bob has lived through the good times and difficult times with Mu Chapter. His steadfastness, attentiveness, insight, and fortitude have been the glue that has held Mu together. He has always successfully rallied other brothers to walk alongside of him with the same hope and vision to keep Mu strong, alive, and a place to better the man for eons to come. He has the rare gift of being able to oversee and guide the undergraduate chapter without interfering with its internal chapter operations and government which are the building blocks for building strong brothers. Bob has also built solid relationships and friendships with leaders in the UW Greek system and IFC. He knows what's happening in the Greek system and understands how it impacts Mu Chapter. Everyone knows the Mu Chapter Alumni Association (MCAA) which Bob has built with the help of other brothers. You find Mu Chapter on Facebook because of Bob who manages it. In 2014 Bob was the primary architect of The Mu Chapter Foundation, Inc. in which he serves as President. Bob's hard work and endless effort are mostly unseen. But as we like to say in our fraternity – the results are well known. Bob has worked to better the man. He deserves our sincere, heart-felt appreciation. Bob is modest and wouldn't seek public recognition like this. But, we want to say thank you Bob for every- thing that you do. You're a gentleman and a scholar with a heart beneath your vest; you look like all the others, but you're better than the rest. For you're an Alpha Sig, you're a man you ought to, a man you want to, a man you're sure to know. Mu's Greatest Leader of the Quarter Century All great men are gifted with intuition. They know without reasoning or analysis, what they need to know. – Alexis Carrel BOB STRECKER '78 Grand Chapter Advisor Photo by Will Wilson
