Explore Your Parks with Free Access! Did you know that 25 parks and 34 preserves are free? Parking fees are only charged at McNears Beach Park, Paradise Beach Park, Stafford Lake Park, and 2 boat launches. Beginning in January, you can access these places for free on Measure A days—the fi rst Saturday of the month—all year long. And with a Library Parks Pass checked out from your local county library, you have free access any time throughout the week! New Audiences Explore Parks. The Community Grant Program funded by Measure A is providing new avenues for all residents to enjoy their parks. In the fi rst two years of this program, almost 1,000 people enjoyed a particular park or preserve for the fi rst time! So far, nine organizations have partnered to lead 331 free outings serving 5,465 people. These programs have included walks for seniors led by the Marin Conservation League, youth mountain bike rides from Trips for Kids, and career development with the Novato Youth Center, among others. New grant proposals are accepted every January. Beginning this year, local summer camp programs can also apply for free park access to serve their participants. Get Outside to Get Healthy. Marin Community Clinic and Marin City are piloting a Parks Prescription program to encourage people to get healthy outside the doctor's offi ce. Early results show a range of promising effects such as a signifi cant decrease in blood pressure or depression for participants. See for yourself! Forget about the gym and check out free Zumba on the fi rst Saturday of the month at McInnis Park or Kokoro Healing and Empowerment at Rocky Graham Park, a program offered by the Marin City Community Services District, a Measure A grantee. From naturalist walks for seniors to nature for kids, Marin County Parks offers a wide variety of free programs to help Marin's residents fi nd free, healthy opportunities in their communities. All Marin County Parks programs are free, with any parking fees waived for participants.
