The punch, the pop star's latest outrage in a career of outrages, was captured on video by TMZ. In the video, Bieber was seen arriving in a big black car. The window of the car was rolled down, presum- ably so Bieber could bask in the attention of his fans. Suddenly, a man reached his arm into the open window and hung on for a moment, running along with the movement of the car, des- perately clinging to the pop star, until Bieber's arm shot through the open window, striking the fan's jaw. — Martha Ross, Bay Area News Group Star report Birthdays 1784 Zachary Taylor, the 12th President of the United States, was born in Or- ange County, Virginia. 1859 British naturalist Charles Darwin published "On the Origin of Species," which explained his theory of evolution by means of natural selection. 1865 Mississippi became the first Southern state to enact laws which came to be known as "Black Codes" aimed at limiting the rights of newly freed blacks; other states of the former Confederacy soon followed. 1939 British Overseas Airways Corp.
