13 http://www.globaldignity.org On October 21 st , TakingITGlobal and the Centre for Global Education celebrated Global Dignity Day with youth across the country including students from Nova Scotia, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Nunavut. The goal of the day was to help empower young people with the concept that every human being has the universal right to lead a dignified life. This year's theme "The Many Faces of Dignity" was explored through a variety of creative presentations where students shared what dignity meant to them and their ideas around how they can better support others' dignity in their communities. Rwandan Genocide Survivor, Emery Rutagonya, and Mrs. Universe, Ashley Callingbull, spoke as role models for the event, sharing their personal dignity stories and encouraging the youth to use their actions and choices to make a difference in the lives of others. http://www.futurefriendlyschools.org The Future Friendly Schools is a global network of schools with educators who collaborate in learning and teaching, challenge each other to serve and include every learning, and celebrate achievements beyond just test scores. Founded in 2013, our Future Friendly School program program recognizes and certify schools as leaders who are determined to rise to the challenge of true 21st century teaching and learning in the areas of global citizenship, student voice, and environmental stewardship. In 2016, we are looking to work with more schools that are motivated to find innovative ways to promote student voice, global citizenship, and environmental stewardship through approaches that prioritize challenge-based learning and the immersive use of information and communication technologies (ICTs).
